pipe thread help

Thomas Bodine

Mark I have ordered a replacement deck fitting from West Marine.

Before I leave the store, I will have tried it with the camlock fittings that came with the pump.

then i will have to figure out how to remove the deck fitting without damaging the deck it's glued on with that white marine glue I see everywhere whose name I can't remember

This is a long shot but is it possibly British??? British Pipe Thread (Whitworth Form), BSP, or BSPP? I've found odd fittings and such on eBay UK and Amazon UK. Sometimes shipping is pricey and sometimes not. It may depend if it's shipped from the UK or directly from China.

30 years ago Nimble Boat works was able to get these no problem.

Now they are moribund and only make the Nimble Nomad in low volume, to order,

You are the fifth person to suggest this course of action

Think I'll have to throw in the towel on this one.

Thread is either 8 tpi or 3 mm pitch.  So thinking 1-1/2"-8 UN or M38x3.  A thread pitch gauge would verify this.   I looked at pump out adapters.  The only thing I saw was NPT or BSP.  Nothing even close to what you have.  Didn't find a "standard" hydraulic port close enough to what your pictures described.

So in typical fashion seen on so many forums, the responder (me) will now annoyingly offer something that you didn't ask for.  Namely, buy a new pump out deck fitting and it's mating adapter.  Will likely come with a cam-lock male end.  A mating cam-lock connector can get you back to the 1-1/4 pvc pipe that you want, with the advantage of no rotation required for the connection.

I'll disclose that I have no experience with pump outs.

Maybe someone else on this forum can do this more justice.  Sorry.

I still can't see what your female thread/port looks like.  Could you take pics of that and also a side shot of the plug.  Is the thread tapered or straight?  Is it 12 tpi, 11-1/2 tpi or other?  Is there an o-ring, washer, gasket, ferrule, tapered nose or recess involved?

Based solely on this picture, I can take a long shot and guess that it might be an SAE J516 dash 16 fitting.  I say this because that fitting has a 1-7/16 thread.

What I can also say is that this is not NPT, because there is no NPT close to that dimension.

I also assume the calipers zero out properly (too many folks led astray by that).

But questions/comments to start:

1.  114 tpi can't be right.  If what you have is NPT, then it would be 11-1/2 tpi.

2.  "Standard pipe" is 1.315" OD for 1" nominal pipe and 1.660" OD for 1-1/4" nominal pipe.  Not sure if the "1.25" you mention is meaning 1-1/4" nominal with 1-1/4 NPT threaded.

3.  The 1.426" internal thread diameter you mention is suspiciously close to the tap drill diameter for 1-1/4 NPT.

A couple pictures and maybe a bit more explanation might help as well.

Much better info.  Looks a lot like the water fill port on my P19.  Measured it and not the same.  Go for the easy stuff first...  Will look more tomorrow at work when I have access to port profiles.

I want to connect it to a standard American pipe 1.25 inches in diameter with coarse thread.

I need to pull a vacuum through the pipe to empty a tank it is connected to.

I can not find anything on the internet that will help me.

Is there somewhere in Texas can help me out?

Thomas,

Thomas,

I can maybe work with you on this.  If you want to keep back and forths off the forum, you can contact me directly at launchbywire@....  Or keep it on the forum - might wake a few people up...
