This is my first sort-off contest for WVDXC. I just finished rebuilding my station after moving from MT. My wife got covid on Friday, so I spent only 6hrs in the seat. With limited time, I did 99% S&P to see how many mults I could get. And everything worked! I had to get some time using a new K4, which I'm not fully checked out on yet :) And I'm happy to say, it's nice to be in OR. |

Wow, Bob, that new tower and antennas are really working! Do you get much interference from either K2PO or K7ZS from where you are located?
Welcome to the WVDXC team!

No interference but they both light up the waterfall! I don't know many call signs here, but I've met Bill, Alex and Kevin. And I try not to get too close to them.

Luckily, I can rarely hear either of them here, even at the best of times. I can't imagine what it must be like from K7ZS to K2PO and K2PO to K7ZS. They are at most only a few miles from each other. Maybe Bill's antennas are so high and the beamwidths so sharp the signals go right over Kevin! ;-)
Great job guys! I struggled with this contest, (as I always do in CW tests), and you CW guys make it look easy.
I think I only worked K8H on one band. They usually either had a huge pile-up, or I couldn't hear them here. I did work my friend Lloyd KH6LC, and his team on 5 bands (missed them on 160M)
BTW, I just sent my registration in for IDXC in Visalia next April. Don't forget to get those submitted!

Mike, there's a lot of problem between K7ZS/K2PO. Not all the time, depends on beam headings most of the time. I had the same results with K8H, saw a lot of spots but only heard them once. I also worked LC on 5 bands. KH6 is always easy from here. And Lloyd's station is always loud here. 73 On Mon, Nov 28, 2022, 2:27 PM Mike Ritz <w7vo@...> wrote:

I don’t think there are many problems. Sometimes parking to close 5-10KHz and CQ is an issue for receiving S1 signals without repeats. Especially toward JA - Kevin is 2 miles in that direction. Tuning amp or making sure no overdrive helped in majority of the rare cases. I always move to one end or another for CQ, since at K2PO we are using 2 legal limit stations inband (Run+S&P) and that way second op can clean the band with almost no pretense of the other station. Talking about inband - majority of the time no impact on other RX or even noticing second station presence. Second station can work only 2-5KHz away from the other. So if we achieved this with RX antennas 200FT away - it sure can be done @2 miles. On Nov 28, 2022, at 3:12 PM, Jim Cassidy <jimki7y@...> wrote:
