WD installation on Raspberry Pi requires it run the legacy 'basher' version of the Pi OS

Rob Robinett

In helping a new WD user install it on a new Raspberry Pi, I was reminded that due to a defective version of 'bash', WD doesn't run on the latest 'bullseye' Pi OS which is what is loaded by default on a microSD.

To install the 'basher' OS which works with WD on your microSD card, select 'Raspberry Pi OS (other) from the 'Choose OS' dialog box:

Then scroll down to 'Raspberry Pi OS (Legacy) and select it.

Then select 'Choose Storage' from the the main page and 'Write'
The rest of the installation and configuration is identical to what you did for the 'bullseye' installation

Do you mean Buster maybe ? Not "basher".

You are correct, I ment Buster.
