WD3 upgrade question
I haven't been closely following the WD3 version story here, and approach any kind of upgrade involving Linux commands with great trepidation, admittedly due to my lack of experience in that area. I currently have a Pi4 running a desktop operating system along with the previous version of wsprdaemon, and I just wanted to confirm that the WSPR decoding ability in the old 2.1 and new WD3 version are about the same. Alternatively, are there differences in CPU loading or spotting ability that make an upgrade a compelling case? At this point my interest only includes the WSPR mode spotting.

WD 3.0 suppresses spots with corrupt mode values which are created by all the WD 2.x versions.
Those corrupt spots makes it difficult for us to view spots created by FST4W beacons, so I would really like to get all the legacy WD users to move to WD 3.0.
WD 3.0 runs essentially the same WSPR decoder as is used in WD 2.10, but WD 3.0 adds optional decoding of FST4W spots at very little CPU cost and no cost in disk space.
We have had very few problems in the 2.10 to 3.0 process, and I have added an optional remote access feature which makes it easy for users to give me access to their WD servers for support during upgrades

Many thanks for creating (and upgrading!) the wsprdaemon software. And I'm looking forward to the possibility of using it with SDRPlay devices in the future.

Rob,
I am happy to report that I mustered the "courage" to upgrade my system using the Linux commands posted at the web site, and it went very smoothly. It only took a couple of minutes to accomplish. After that I also edited the conf file to include my newly installed #2 Kiwi, and after one small glitch (forgot to add a comma between receiver name and band), the spotting commenced using both SDRs. I may even give the new FST mode(s) a try one of these days
