FAN for KIWI
John
I need to replace my KIWI fan. Does anyone know of a reliable model?

John, I run all the BBG Kiwis at KPH, KFS and Maui with the fan and RF/GPS endplate removed and I turn the Kiwis on their side to enhance vertical convection cooling. I then mount 80 cm muffin fans blowing on those open ends. At home I don't even use any fan at all and I have had no problems. But the BBG doesn't report CPU temperatures, so I don't know how hot the CPU gets without a fan but it sure is a lot quieter in my office without fans. Rob I need to replace my KIWI fan. Does anyone know of a reliable model? --

Hi John,
I have had sunon maglev vapo bearing fans running in my BBAI kiwis for just over 2 years/24/7. No failures yet.
I use 1, 30mm fan on the BBAI. It’s quieter than those stock fans.
You may need a 25mm if it’s a stock kiwi.

Here's another suggestion. All of those tiny fans are pretty awful but if you peel back the label that covers the bearing (probably a bushing rather than ball bearings) you can add a small amount of lubricant and likely get them going again (and going quietly). A small but of thin oil (3 in one or the clear synthetic stuff you can get in pinpoint oilers) will quiet them for a *very* long time. (I'm well over a year since doing it the last time) . Doesn't take long, especially once you lose the lockwashers that are balanced on the standoffs! :-) Best John On Sun, Feb 26, 2023 at 3:21 PM WA2TP - Tom <myis300@...> wrote:
