Problems building new wsprdaemon server Pi4 Buster

You make a very good point!
I forgot that VNC and ssh are not enabled by default on the Pi and it isn't at all clear how to do that on the Pi:
To do that goto:
         Raspberry->Preferences->Raspberry Pi Configuration->Interfaces
and enable SSH

Configurations of up to 14 bands run fine on 1GB Pi4bs, but you probably need to disable the graphical desktop.
To do that goto:
           Raspberry->Preferences->Raspberry Pi Configuration->System
and select:   Boot to CLI.

Is SSH enabled ?

If you can't open a terminal window on the desktop something is badly wrong with your buster OS installation and I would reflash the microSD and start all over again.

I have done the normal stuff with ID pi including changing the password.
I have done adduser wsprdaemon and added to sudo group. But when I try to use PUTTY to login,
as soon as i enter the PW PUtty goes away. Also if I login on the Graphics HDMI display

anytime I click on the TERMINAL icon I get nothing, same goes for ctrl T. No terminal.
I have added wsprdaemon to groups sudo adm dialout netdev lpadmin but still have the same problem.
Where did I go wrong?
