Kiwi GPS Antenna

Hi Rolf

I have one of these:

When I bought mine it came as a kit with a small
metal outdoor mounting stand/pole, and cable.

It feeds my three KiwiSDRs via a standard domestic
satellite TV splitter. It is powered from the Kiwis
and works fine for me - currently my main WSPR Kiwi
shows tracking 12 satellites, with 10-12 showing
"good".

Cheers, Chris (ZL2005SWL)

With the recent upgrades of WD (thank you Rob) it is clear that the Kiwi will be more accurate/stable with more GPS locks.  This means that better reception is needed, at least so is the case at my site.
I need to upgrade and put up a different antenna and higher in the clear.   Thus to those that have already done so,  any suggestions?

I already had an outside antenna with 40 dB gain and have been powering it from the Kiwi using a CATV splitter. I never worked very well. Per Rob’s suggestion that the diode drop in the splitter and the kiwi only providing 3.3 volts I added a bias tee and dc block to the feed and now power the antenna with 5 volts from a wall wart. It works much better now.
