Thanks for all the answers... I will look into ordering the necessary parts then to move on... I also need to find a way to get a connection from the GPS antenna through the concrete to the basement, where the radio lab is - the existing cable tubes are full...
Just now I had to solder an RG316 (BNC on the other end) onto those pads to help understand a problem Gwyn is trying to explain to me. So I feel your pain.
The U.FL was left off during the design (6+ years ago now) due to cost and the belief no one would ever want to use it. As Monty Python said, "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
