Tones can be read and set from the flrig user interface

Left click on the band button to get the values, frequency, mode, bandwidth, transmit tone, receive tone.

Right click on the band button to set the values.

There is no On/Off selector.

Flrig 1.4.3.18 with FSK Config Use CAT did it with 7300 in RTTY mode.

For the record:
- fldigi 1.4.20.36 can alternatively key fsk rtty, but not through flrig as I found. Not required by me, but is it planned?
yes
- As reported earlier, fldigi misses many keyboard keystrokes when typing fsk rtty, unless the text is prepared in advance before Tx so it is sent in one go without the idle LTRS repetition in between.
Not seeing that behavior on Linux or OS-X.  Typing has no effect on transmission other than to queue characters to the TX stream.  I can test later on Win-10, but not Win-7 as I can no longer boot to that environment.

The 7200 does not support direct DTR or RTS keying on it's USB connection.  From page 19, IC7200 manual:

The TNC can be simple a USB-DTR-optoisolator ciruit, from flrig on-line help:

Suitable for both CW and FSK keyline control.  Either DTR or RTS can be used as the control signal.  I have one built in to a serial port case.  The circuit board is 5/8" x 5/8".  The optoisolator is a dual isolator; one side for CW and the other for FSK.

Steve,

Ok, understand now. I suspect you will have to manually turn activate the tone squelch. It could be assumed that since almost all repeaters use a PL tone that the Tone Squelch would be already set on and all you need to do is to select the correct tone.

Interesting development of flrig!
Daily I use fldigi but since I am interested testing FSK RTTY, I tried it in flrig 1.4.3.16 on Win 7 and IC7300 in RTTY mode with RTS keying configured there. No COM-port sharing software used in this test. COM port runs at 115200 bd, and works fine.

Trying the flrig FSK keyer with CWIO shared, it keys the rig but no rtty heard on rig sidetone.
Flrig event list says essentially E: setRTS: Invalid handle: No error:

[09:15:08.153] E: SetCommunicationTimeouts:

Does this reveals anything to anyone?

---

As a side, trying FSK RTTY keying on RTS on fldigi 1.4.20.36 instead, yields the same results as reported earlier, missing many single chars on FSK RTTY Tx. But RTTY is heard on rig sidetone.

Fldigi / Microham DXP Comms Problem #modem Error in Fldigi software ? #modem #fldigi

Ray King G0VSS

Hi
I am trying to get the Fldigi to send FSK RTTY with the Microham DXP Interface, which uses the Winkey chip to send true FSK RTTY
I have been in touch with Microham and they say:

When I last checked fldigi with WinKeyer 3, fldigi did not properly
initialize WinKeyer 3 when switching between CW and FSK. CW was on
one output of the WinKeyer 3 while FSK was on the other but only
one output is connected to the transceiver.

Can anyone confirm that this is correct and if this has been noted and will be corrected in next version ?

Thanks
Ray

fldigi and n3fjp software

Robert Rampolla

I have been using both FLDigi and N3FJP contest software together for almost two decades. I have never had issues connecting between any of Scott's programs, be it a sweepstakes, a rtty round up, qso party etc., but I am having issue recently. I could not get FLDigi to connect to his AARL 10 meter contest program, or his latest 160 meter ARRL contest program. I see the communications stream but it does not connect. I have tried both FLDigi 4.1.20 and fldigi4.1.18. I am not the only one, as my friend Mike could not get his computer to connect either. Both of my versions of FLDigi will immediately connect with some older versions of his contest loggers like his NA sprint contest logger from last year and his cq wpx contest log from last year as well. Have you had other complaints or inquiries.

Re: VDD CAT readings on Yaesu transceivers

Hi Bob,

The VDD readout will really only be useful if you are using a DC / battery voltage source to power the transceiver.

Start flrig.
Select menu item "Config / Setup / Send command"
Enter "RM8;" in the upper text control.
Click on "Send" button
Record response.

Mike and I want instruction on how to collect the RM8; response.   I suspect my FTdx-101mp will have a VDD of around 50 vdc.

Below are the recorded values for FTdx-101D

11.02V -> RM8155000
11.55V -> RM8162000
12.02v -> RM8170000
12.52v -> RM8177000
13.02v -> RM8185000
13.86v -> RM8198000

A number of Yaesu transceivers support the CAT command "RM8;" which respond with the VDD voltage.  Unforunately, Yaesu engineers do not share the relation between the response values and the actual VDD voltage.  I need that information to add VDD display support in flrig.

Please assist by using the Send Command facility in flrig.  Adjust the DC supply voltage over the range 12 to 14 volts recording both the supply voltage and the "RM8;" query response.  A minimum of two voltage points is needed.

Send the results to this forum.

Thank you.
