I had the wrong com port set at COM 5 which should have been COM 6 for rig control. May error duh !!

Thanks for the reply.

Re: FLRIG WONT LOAD #flrig

Well CLiff I have dont about everything. Shut down all programs using COM 6. Rebooted, reinstalled about every thing possible. Renamed a couple on perf files as a fellow suggested. When I open FLRIG it gets about 3/4 th of the way and stops and says no response.

What do u suggest the flrig .files name?? This is such a small program I can't understand why it doesn't work.

Thanks for the help.

I suggest you reboot your computer and without starting any other program, with the radio on and connected to the computer, try to start flrig. Does it start now? If not then rename the flrig.files directory to something else and try to start flrig with nothing else running.

Please let me know what the results are.

Re: Magic numbers in FLRIG processing of FTdx101D power, SWR and ALC #flrig #windows-10

Dave

Independent of transceiver the returned CAT values for smeter, swr and alc are all converted to a 0...100 range such that the converted values lie on a scale associated with the respective user interface meter display.  Power is left as reported and the meter display logic limits the scaled value;

etc.

Where ever possible a cooperating user has measured return CAT values for either measured or transceiver displayed value for each of the 4 metering functions.  The conversion is then accomplished using linear interpolation between measured values.  It may be necessary to perform a conversion on the power scale if the transceiver report is not well behaved.

You are free to use any of the flrig code for your work providing you comply with the requirements of the General Public License, which basically requires that all derivative work be published as GPL and made freely available to anyone who requests the code.

Someone in the FTdx10 groups.io forum suggested that I look at FLRIG for some insight to correctly displaying these values.
It appears that these CAT values of the FTdx10 are the same as for the FTdx101d, and I was able to run FLRIG against my FDdx10 with no problem.

Looking at src/rigs/yaesu/FTdx101D.cxx in the source code of FLRIG, I see that the CAT values are processed using some "magic numbers" to produce values suitable for display.

Before I go ahead and steal the code behind these magic numbers, if this doesn't involve revealing state secrets, I'd really appreciate it if someone could explain the reasoning behind the way the processing for these three values was developed.

Re: Fldigi-4.1.19, Flrig-1.4.1 Not Keying Transmitter

Dennis

Thanks again Cliff for pointing me in the right direction. Because of the nature of the problem and the way things were working
I suspected it had to be something I was not paying enough attention to in the setup of the software.

I did have a messy driver installation and that might have been complicating things too.

That's all cleaned up now, I learned a lot and I would like to thank you and others who provided me
with various ideas and things to check/verify.

Thanks ... Dennis ... AI6R

Could have been more than 1 problem that got fixed along the way because this time the PTT via CAT  -INIT-  button was red!
Pushed it, it came back black, pushed the CQ button to test the Tx and low and Behold there was a red light on the Tx.

Thanks to everyone who helped along the way, I hope to return the favor some day!

Cat control to follow freq from rig #help #flrig

I am using CAT for rig control. Is there a way CAT can follow the rig freq?? I have 7.070 and 14.070 in memory off my rig.
Now I am using the drop down menu at the top of WINFIDIGI.

Re: Fldigi-4.1.19, Flrig-1.4.1 Not Keying Transmitter

In case you are not successful playing around witht he PTT config then one long shot is to rename the flrig config directory and do a fresh setup. This is in C:\Users\<your login name>\flrig.files. Rename the directory to something like flrig.files1 and then start flrig. Sometimes a new config will fix something that got corrupted in the config.

If that doesn’t work then the archive version of flrig-1.3.52 is here: http://www.w1hkj.com/files/archives/Windows/flrig-1.3.52_setup.exe and you can try that.

I have played around a little in the Config area you picture here, but not a lot, it was mentioned in some of the earlier emails I researched before posting.
I'll go back and spend some quality time playing with this configuration page and try some of your suggestions.

I did want to go back to the older version of Flrig, but I foolishly deleted it rather than archiving it someplace.
I did look around for a copy, didn't spend much time though. I'll have to look around and see if I can find it somewhere.

Thanks all again, Dennis ... AI6R

Re: Fldigi-4.1.19, Flrig-1.4.1 Not Keying Transmitter

Dennis,

First of all, be assured that it’s part of Ham Radio to try to help others be successful in enjoying the hobby. In this case getting things working for you is important to everyone that tries to help otherwise we wouldn’t be doing it. It doesn’t matter if it is a user setup issue or a bug in the program, if possible everyone wants to be of help. Dave Freese has to set the record for how fast he fixes bugs once they are identified. Finding it is helpful to all the others that may run into the same issue later.

In flrig check out this page in the configuration. Unless you have an unusual setup it should look like this with nothing set on the other PTT pages:

If the above doesn’t work for you try PTT Via RTS or DTR and various combinations of voltage settings. What ever PTT settings you had in Hamlib should work here.

One other question: What version of flrig was the last one that worked for you? You can always go back to that if with the same settings this one will not work for you.

I'm using an older Transceiver and I'm OK with  that. I can still use Fldigi with Hamlib and

I thought that I might be missing something with 4.1.19, I still think that is the most likely conclusion.
