Rick,

Do you mean flrig 1.3.40? flrig 1.3.4 is very very old.

RR. That one has solved the problem, but it isn’t available for general use yet.

Apparently there is a bug in alpha 4.0.19.30. Testing that version here I see the same problem. Hopefully Dave will read this and put it on his list to fix.

Robert,

In which config window did you set for 599 default? There are two places to set. One in Contest and one in Log. Be sure you have both set if that is what you want.

You have to insert it manually because it will not be saved in the log.
Is it a bug, if I'm doing something wrong ?

Grand Solar Minimum : Good for TTY modes, if the cold from it does not leave one starved or bankrupted ...

The Grand Solar Minimum :

GRAND SOLAR MINIMUMS ARE probably "Good for TTY modes" as the Solar Storms pretty much go to NIL ...

Solar Storms tend to play hovac with the Phase and Amplitude (and Doppler) of TTY signals of the non-CODFM or arrayed PSK / FSK ...

Bad Antisocial Governmental Agency Stuff
-- A Fortnight without a Sunspot should trigger a "AGRICULTURE NEGATIVE IMPACT ADVISORY"
-- A Week without a sunspot should actually be "SOLAR NO SUNSPOT ALERT CONDITION"
-- 3 Days SANS SUNSPOTS should trigger an "ANOMALOUS SW PROPAGATION ALERT"

The Solar Terrestrial Environment is best self run with 1/sunspot {day} ... as a bare minimum.
Yea, 5 sunspots at a time is too much ... but not catastrophically harmful. "8 or 9" OY!

Lack of Sunspots (generally in 200y cycles, but there is an FFT that accounts for the 3 variations in Solar Minimums) is tied to temperature downturns globally, but with volcanoes playing with the global coldness relationship as a factor.

The Younger Dryas and Mini-Ice-Age had many volcano events that were lowering global temperatures.

SINCE 1800:
NON-CO2 compounds aka hydrocarbon and fluorocarbon and carbon (buckyball) aerosols in the lower and middle atmosphere (but due to solar wind get into the ionosphere) -- have gone up in concentration geometrically.

These mostly human made compounds have also affected the levels and layers of the ionosphere ... but the effect has been gradual. The new chemical stew in the ionosphere has not messed with the non-linear phase and group delays that messes up various RTTY modes readability.

SUMMARY
... if the cold from LACK OF SUNSPOTS does not leave one starved or bankrupted ... your RTTY traffic will get thru ....

Re: Multiple fldigi instances with flrig

John Wagner

Hi Michael, Have been trying to run both DMT and Fldigi together all using just one USB cable but have not been able to get the Fldigi to key xmint. Audio seems to be there as (running both at same time minimized) both will print any transmition sent , DMT will print any 110A and Fldigi will print any Olivia sent, but when I then open DMT I can then xmit on 110A (keeping Fldigi minimized) and same if I open Olivia in Fldigi can read what was sent except can't xmint. Both are config audio as USB audio CODEC. I use VSPE to share DMT Com6 and Station Manager Com16 so they can share files and IC-V address set at 88h. I have been told that address must be 94h for Fldigi to send control code so Fldigi will xmit which could be done by changing the IC-7300.xml power level line from 88 to 94 (this file used by Fldigi when opened). Any Ideas? Have you changed anything in the xml file?
Thank you for any ideas to try. 73's, John, WA8CKT
p.s Everything worked together when using my SignaLink USB, of course a few configs were different to use that unit but wanted to try the USB cable along with the built in audio of the 7300 with it's cleaner audio, so they say. Must be some way to make it work.

now I have one instance of fldigi and MMSSTV connected to a 2-meter
radio scanning a couple of frequencies receiving digital traffic from a
local repeater and pictures from the ISS. Simultaneously, I have two
instances of fldigi and other software connected to the IC-7300

Actually, it’s an fldigi forum and fldigi does include wefax decode. So, it would appear to be on topic.

Doesn't bother me.  Sometimes one can pick up useful information.  I just delete what doesn't interest me .. keeps the delete button from being oxidized.

re: pskreporter - Yes it varies. I just checked  at 1311L Eastern / NY time zone / 1712UTC there were 20 stations listening in North America on 20M and I find similar in the evening on 40M. East coast and mid-west seem to have most stations which works fine for me - far from useless. I guess your mileage varies based on location and time. Also, I set filter to "PSK" not one of specific modes to show as many as possible. Usually at least 3 or 4 stations will copy my CQ and report so at least I know my signal getting out.

Also, I went through the steps to configure and activate spotting in both fldigi and HRD programs. I'm not on the air that frequently but I figure I might as well do my part to help out. The more folks that do this the better.

Re: Satellite Weather Pictures

Mike Olbrisch

That’s the neat function of a delete key, and even setting rules.  When a subject doesn’t interest me, I delete it.  When it goes on for longer than I care to know, I set a rule to auto-delete it.  And when I find a person too obnoxious to want to deal with, I write a rule to just delete anything they send.

WX satellites do not really interest me.  But then, some of the stuff I do might be of little interest to the group too.  So I figure live and let live, and write a rule to delete stuff rather than complain.  Saves bandwidth and keeps the harmony.
