When I use the macro <TUNE:5> FLDIGI hangs up and will not send any more text from the Tx window.
I had just changed mode to MFSK-32 at the time, I suspect this happens I with all modes.  
In THOR-22 text continues to come from the secondary text buffer.
No other macros work probably because the input from the TX window is disabled.

The Tx window shows <!   at the point where the <TUNE:5> macro would be.
