Re: Request web receivers in Las Vegas and Long Island

Hi Keneagle, there is no web receiver I know of closer to Las Vegas
than Javaradio Lancaster, California. There used to be a Javaradio
in Long Island for a short time. There might be a radio in
Pennsylvania that I will check for you to see if it is still online.
Last time I checked the site wasnt available. Lots of folks want a
web receiver in New York area, so I imagine another will show up
some day.

Request web receivers in Las Vegas and Long Island

keneagle17 <keneagle17@...>

This is my first time here in this forum. From reading the messages
about web receivers, I am impressed with the input generated
worldwide. Here I have two requests.

The first request is for web receivers within a 50-mile radius of
New York City (preferably Long Island), so I can hear not only AM-FM
radio stations that are not streaming online, but also CB and police-
fire frequencies in my former home town. The nearest web receiver I
can find is from www.ralabs.com, between Syracuse and Utica, N.Y.,
which is about 200-plus miles from the NYC area.

The second request is for a web radio receiver in the Las Vegas area
(my transplanted community). One of my friends who lives in this
area (within 10 miles from downtown) cannot receive any AM radio
stations because his apartment is made of stucco. Where he lives the
RF is so terrible (+40-50db at times) because of transformers,
electrical appliances, computers, etc., that the static drowns out
nearly all of the stations. What's even worse is that the
transmitters of these radio stations are located within a line of
sight.

I have tried through Google and other search engines in finding web-
controlled receivers in the aformentioned areas.

If anyone has the pertinent information, please post here or e-mail
me. I appreciate all the help I can receive.

Respectfully submitted,

-
Javaradio still has free demo sites, and offers a very reasonable
subscription if you want access to more of the network, Karlstad
(Sweden) and Champaign(Illinois) are free receivers.

The Hong Kong Javaradio has a specialized HF antenna and is
designed
for HF use. Medium wave is non-existent except for locals. VHF
seems
pretty good.

South Downs Javaradio Offline

brad wall <bradebi@...>

South Downs will be offline a week or so while Andy moves house to
Shetland Islands. Andy hopes to be able to keep South Downs receiver
in the London area. This receiver is popular with ACARS enthusiasts.

Kentucky TV CAM

brad wall <bradebi@...>

Girard has so far remained on line and still streaming TV DX and FM
DX. Yesterday was a great day for E-skip and tropo.

Re: Problems in Lexington

I sure am. I hope things get fixed and his tv cam and fm audio will
return in a couple days. E-skip and tropo dx have both been good the
last several days. I am looking forward to the next major meteor
shower. Leonids was producing good bursts in Kentucky.

Thanks, Slampley for that info, this web receiver is located in
Umea, Sweden. This radio is lw-sw(HF), not for VHF. This is a very
good listening post.

IBB-VOA Web Receivers

brad wall <bradebi@...>

Tho not live, you can listen to daily audio samples from over 50 VOA
web receivers around the world. I have posted a link to this site.
You can also get band scans from these receivers. I find these
bandscans very useful when tuning shortwave broadcasts on web radios.

Re: Question

brad wall <bradebi@...>

-Hi Ken,
The Kentucky is the only site I know of which is online now.
Javaradio Malmo will have FM DX1 and FM DX2 coming up in the next
few months. These will be 2 seperate sites. FM1 will be horizontally
stacked yagis on a rotator, and FM2 will have vertically stacked
yagis on a rotator. Super FM DX. Javaradio also has coming up in a
few months a UHF DX site with streaming TV cam and web interface.
This will be at Malmo, Sweden as well. A guy in Sardinia ran a site a
short time with TV DX cam, but I think he is finished with it. If you
find any more sites with streaming FM DX or TV cam, please let us
know. Of course, with all Javaradios(and others) you can tune FM and
tune VHF-UHF TV audio. I do this a lot. 73

Spain Web Radio Offline?

brad wall <bradebi@...>

I havent found Spain web receiver online for a while. I hope he has
not decided to call it quits. Also, Visualradio Switzerland has been
offline for quite a while now. I hope he returns as well, tho it was
usually only available weekends.

Malmo FM DX 2

brad wall <bradebi@...>

The arrival of FM DX 2 in Malmo, Sweden, the upcoming dx site with
stacked vertical FM antennas, will be delayed a bit due to tornado
damage.
