using 24 shafts to greatest advantage?

Because this group has many, many brilliant weaver-brains, maybe someone can help me and my OLD brain.  With my 24 shaft Toika and old eyes/brain, seems to me that with a straight-draw on 24 (which is relatively easy to thread accurately) there should be treadlings that would produce some of the network draft weaves, and other beautiful complex structures whose threadings have become too difficult.  Maybe someone has already produced instruction or book dealing with this?

Have you checked handweaving.net? I believe there’s a tool there that allows you to search by threading.

    Kati,
See my post from yesterday - that monograph from Polina is based on point
threadings and more than 8 shafts. It would allow you to weave brocaded
designs similar to those in your linen book with lovely results.
The link to Ravelry in that post would work if you copy both lines into a
    single one.

    Kati,
If you have a compudobby on your 24 shaft loom, you can use it to thread your loom with great accuracy!  That way you don't have to give up on the fancy threadings.  Below is a link to video instructions, and also Sandra Rude's blog about this technique.  Between the two I think you'll get the idea.
I use this technique all the time with my AVL!

    Happy Weaving!

I don't think that the Iris patterns that I am am working with can be done on a straight threading.  They are tedious to thread, but so beautiful.  To thread, I print the numerical threading from Weave point and put it on a clipboard.  I use an 8" section of a transparent colored plastic file folder on top of the print out and thread 4 threads at a time, moving the piece of plastic along the print out.  It is tedious, but as accurate. The clipboard clip holds all in place.

    Kati,
Consider this: any threading of which a single repeat, or multiple of a single repeat, is exactly 24 ends long, can be woven on a straight threading on 24 shafts.

That would be the run, these patterns are 200-400 ends per repeat.
