HI All…I was researching using my Complex Weavers Journals when I realized the last one I received was the Feb 2022 edition. Has anyone else received issues later than that date?? I have written to CW Journal editor, but have not yet received a response. My membership is up to date, just no Journals. Would like to know how others are faring.
Thanks, Su Butler |

Hi All,
This is your CWJ Editor here with a snapshot of the current situation. The June 2022 issue is (finally) out in the mail and will arrive in mailboxes soon (I'm happy to see that some have already received it!). The October 2022 and February 2023 issues, on the other hand, are still on my desk, waiting to be ready for print.
The delays of the past year have been a blend of things within my control and things completely beyond it. On my end, a series of family issues and illness that have caused slowdowns in getting issues finished and sent out for print. Beyond my reach, our printer has experienced ongoing supply-chain disruptions over the past year and a half (first it was paper, then mailing envelopes).
Ultimately though, the responsibility for any and all delays resides with the Editor, no matter what the cause – therefore, mea culpa. I say that humbly and sincerely.
Despite these unhappy circumstances, I can assure you of this: CW budgets for three issues of our Journal every year; and each year, every member will receive the three issues to which they are entitled. Even when an issue is published quite a bit later than the date printed on its cover, we don't (and will not) skip any issues. Our amazing Membership Chair makes sure that despite the fluid publication schedule, every member whose membership was current at the time of intended publication will receive a copy of that issue.
We are making progress, slowly. If you have friends who've taken on an editorial role, you can point to me as the embodiment of a cautionary tale. The message: it's much easier to stay on top of a schedule than it is to catch up, once you've fallen behind.
I offer my apologies to all members of CW, in hopes that 2023 will see our publications return to their proper places on the calendar.

Thank you Ruth for the update, it is nice to be kept in the loop so I don't start down that long, dark worry road. BTW, my issue came yesterday, too. Now to find time to read it. On Fri, Jan 13, 2023, 2:44 AM Ruth MacGregor <ruthmacg@...> wrote:

Hi Ruth The most important thing is that you and your family are safe and well! It's been a couple of rough years in so many ways. I'm glad to hear that you are fine. And, appreciate all the hard work that you put in to give us all the CWJ. Thank you! The e-version is on the website for those who can access it while their print version makes it's way through the mail. Take care, Thank you for all your work. Patty Patricia Chassé chassetod@... Patty, I second your comments. Ruth has done a stupendous job with publishing the Complex Weavers Journal. It is now a gorgeous, peer reviewed journal.

I agree, the Journal is gorgeous, well laid out and edited....but, I didn't realize we peer-reviewed the articles? Who's doing that? |
|
I think I’m the person who called it peer reviewed. That is such a technical term and I think I was incorrect in using it but the articles are certainly previewed before they are printed.

Just a note on the CW journal and current packaging. It is truly nice! I can see when my membership expires on the label and the packaging protects the journal yet shows it off. Kudos to everyone paying attention to the details of delivery. Never forget it is volunteers pulling this gift together and making it available to us. In addition, that clear packaging is recyclable. We are using it in the US and overseas. For some reason the postage jumps sky high when sent to Canada in those clear envelopes, so those are sent in paper envelopes.
