There is at least one other, newer, AVL cloth storage system. That which is on the K loom.
Then the A series weight system, not on a track, using a pulley, may be newer than the two under discussion. I’ve had no problems with either.

    I have looms with both style cloth storage.  Personally I like the weight on bar best, but probably because that is what I started with.  Learned early on how to rewind the clock sprung, using a mechanic's  bent pick to hold the spring inplace while reattached the drum.
