Kati Meek's paste for weaving

Kati Meek

Yes, the product recommended to me, on this very site, by a very smart weaver, is Cowboy magic DETANGLER & SHINE.  It was a quite magical solution to the sticky 25% mohair 75% wool densely set upholstery warp.  Thanks for giving me the credit, but I just followed the good advice I was given.  There are at least two Cowboy Magic products, but it was the DETANGLER & SHINE that did the trick.

I only use the flax-seed dressing on linen or other cellulose warps.

How do you apply it? It doesn’t seem to come in a spray. Do you just moisten your hands with it and rub them over the warp from heddles to back beam as you go?

Thank you,
Pam

I used a wadded up paper towel and semi-soaked it, then smoothed/dabbed it over the warp.  I think a sponge would work really well too.

Also just a heads up, it has a pretty strong scent, though not unpleasant.  It did not persist in my washed wovens though.  I can imagine that some people might be very sensitive to it during the weaving process.
