Doubleweave warp ends question

I am trying to understand the relationship between the ends in a doubleweave draft and the threading for a layer interchange structure. I sort of get how a 1 block 4 shaft draft works having made the sampler in Jennifer Moore's 4 shaft doubleweave workshop and watched her 8 shaft workshop but no resources I've found clearly (to me) explain the way the ends double from the draft.

The draft I'm working with is handweaving.net 67761. The repeat is 192 ends so that's 384 ends in the warp right? If I want 20 EPI for each layer that would 40 ends and give a repeat every 9.6 inches. And is that still D/L or DD/LL?  Or am I overthinking this?

The draft is DW, you can double the ends of each design block if you wish, but it's not mandatory. One repeat of the 6 blocks is 192 ends. That is 4.8 inches wide at 40 epi. To determine width, decide how many blocks you want, OR double the blocks.

I'm confused.  If you have doubleweave at 20 epi for each layer (40 epi actual), wouldn't you still measure the width at 20 epi?  And what is D/L and DD/LL?

I was considering the width at 20 EPI since the layers are stacked. D/L is Dark/Light, sorry for the confusion
