Multi yarns used as one

thank you - and you have great prices, too, in addition to other things difficult if not impossible to find elsewherre (e.g. autodenters!)

George Weil in the UK (www.georgeweil.com) has regular deliveries from Venne and other suppliers in the EU. At present we are finding our way through the post-Brexit nightmare. However we expect to see improvements in the coming weeks and may then be able to help you with importing the item. Perhaps get in touch after Easter.
Best regards

I am not sure where you are based, but for those in Europe, I found a German vendor yesterday that had it at about 550Euros, to which post Brexit I'd have to add custom duties (I am based in the UK). It is too much for my current needs
and equipment, but definitely one for my wishlist! |

I contacted Lone Star today. They sell Venne. She is going to get back to me with a cost.

Sandy, be aware of the fact that you
have to use the grey cones of Venne! I use to spool yarns from
different cones on empty Venne cones.

Well, this is interesting. I stand corrected. I'll be interested in looking over the Venne twister. I have been looking at them, but they are so expensive. Would a cheaper model do the trick?

I haven't seen any mention of using a spinning wheel to ply the yarns together, but I might have missed it. I use an electric spinning wheel to ply multi strands together for a big project but for the sample where I want to try this and that, I use the cones on top of each other as described. The electric spinning wheel is fast and I can control the tension thru my hand grip. Just a word of warning though. Once, I plied two silk yarns together, gobs of it, and then I discovered that they had different shrinkage rates when I dyed them! I had gobs of unusable yarn!

This works for weft, but not for warp?

I use several threads as one often. It usually isn't a problem if I wind the pirn tightly. When using very slick yarns I sometimes take the time to play them on a wheel. Sandra |

The Leclerc doubling stand says it is actually for 3 strands of yarn because one cone can go on the floor if it is mounted on the wall. On Tue, Feb 2, 2021 at 8:17 AM Denise Drake <ddrake@...> wrote:

Yes, all the suggestions are good and I add a damp microfiber cloth wrapped around the exit of the stand with the doubled yarns, and another damp microfiber in my hand as I guide the threads onto the pirn. Helps the threads stick together AND protects my hand from cuts and burns. And yes, mixing shades makes for lovely depth of color. Treadle with Joy, Kati

Oh darn, I was hoping to use it for my stock of 140/2 silk. I’m wanting to use them tripled in a warp.

Denise, you could try Lone Star Loom
Room, as she sells the Venne yarn.
I must add a note! The device can only be used with the grey Venne cones. Marian
