I can’t find a good help button
A good way to tackle Double two-tie (D2t) weaves is to understand that the order the base is lifted (the tie shafts which are often 1 & 2) determines the structure along with pattern shafts. Here’s an excerpt I created from one that Alice Schlein handed out. My book ”Fit 2 be Tied” covers designing for 16S or more.

The search button shows everything in the world, don’t see any weaving. I’m looking for help with understanding Clotilde Barrett’s “Double two-tie unit weaves” book. It makes no sense to me and there are several things in there I’d like to weave!
Thanks.

I suggest beginning with a sample warp - narrow, and maybe long enough to rethread for another pattern. Begin with a simple twill threading, Chapter 3. Use the different tie ups they give, and treadlings. I think after the first 5 pages in that chapter that it will make sense and you can go on from there.
Have fun with this. They have some wonderful patterns for inspiration.

When I am trying to understand how a structure works, and am having
trouble, I usually set a loom up with an example and start weaving it,
according to the draft. Even if I didn't understand how the draft was
going to work, as it takes shape I can see the structure. You don't
have to understand how a structure works in order to thread, tie up
and treadle a draft.
