Re: Auckland NZ
When DH and I were in Auckland about 10 years ago, we found a lot to see at the Auckland Museum. More cultural and anthropological than strictly weaving/fiber, but it's well worth visiting.

Silver Needles Cone Winder
I have one that I would be willing to sell. It works fine and I have a bunch of cones that go with it.
DH found me an old industrial one to use - I think he likes the winding more than I do.

Fake Silk by Paul David Blanc
Just looked it up and read a few sample pages. Definitely a book to read
for responsible weavers and citizens generally.

I'm really trying to raise awareness about these products in the UK. I reviewed Fake Silk for the Journal, and it put the fear of God in to me!
Jane, currently in NZ and off to Oz in a few days

Man-made refers to the spinnable fiber - the spinnable fiber from the orange
peels doesn't exist until put into the "soup". Man makes the spinnable
filament through an extrusion process. If you will,
