I think it has to empathized when using the AVL wheel that the threads have to be pushed to the "back" as the warp is measured. I forgot to do this carefully enough with the last warp and encountered

Just so you know where that handout comes from - there were 95 slides,
including nicely prepared versions of those basic weaves - per the ISO
definition of the 3 basic weave

I have tried warping both ways. I consistently get kumihimo braids when I use the spool rack and tension box. In addition I tens to warp very fine and and need more than 2 spool racks to get

I use my AVL Warping Wheel to wind warps to put on to a table loom that I
use for sampling. I create the raddle cross by grouping the threads for
each raddle section in one dent of the the raddle/comb
