Now I'm trying to wind onto the back beam, but the twisting is causing
snarls in front of the heddles and reed, so the yarns can't pass through
unless I stop every inch and untangle them.
I'd stretch the bundle out as far as possible and tie onto a backpack full
of books. Drag the backpack up to the loom, then retie it back farther. Turn
the bundle over when needed. I hope you have many choke ties installed.
