I read recently in the Collingswood book on rugs that a reed can be
ruined using a finer reed under the high tension required for rugs.
Well, if one has lots of draw-in at the fell, it could bend a reed blade or
two ( also break selvedges ). I use a temple and so have no draw-in at the
fell.
The finer sett a reed has the thinner the reed's blades are, usually.
