Another source for a slip ring would be electric hair curling irons. I've played with these at Goodwill and thought they would work.

Another source of slip rings may be your local hobby source. Look for
the slip rings used for things such as RC Tank Turrets.

Hi Carl,

One could possibly make a slip ring out of a hair dryer or curling iron work.  The challenge is that the slip ring is likely molded into the housing and may be difficult to separate it.  It may also be a challenge to center it up on the turntable.  Since no two models are likely to be the same, it is hard to give advice on doing this.  Still, if you can get a hair dryer or curling iron for a few dollars, it is worth a try.
