A final thanks to everyone that has provided feedback. It is much appreciated and at this point I feel I have sufficient information to move forward. Nick

Hi, I'm re-starting my RR from scratch (getting more space is wonderful). I've found reversing sections aren't my strong suit, so I'm seeking feedback on the plan to see if I have it right - or too mu

Controlling uncouplers via DCC
Interesting. I don't have any Athearn locos at the moment (Bowser/Stewart, a couple Overland, and a lone Bachman). I would be interested if anyone else ran into similar problems with other brands, and

I was actually considering the Rapido Trains Railcrew uncoupler. I've watched a couple install videos and these seem to be the better/easier option for retrofit in my situation.

Thank you all for your responses, it definitely sounds like this is better done with 12v DC.

I have a couple spots on my layout where I'd like to use remote uncouplers and didn't see what I was looking for in past posts here. I've seen references about activating these through a DCC throttle

It would probably help if I clarified further. I did also purchase the Walthers distribution block 942-111, which I originally thought was DC only until last night when I realized is has 8 pins for I/

Yes, basic green machine with the built-in decoder (I believe referred to as SMAIL). No DC involved at all, I power these from the track bus so the Power Cab/JMRI/WI Throttle can throw them.
