I believe when George said "double loop" he was referring to concentric ovals, not dual reverse loops. You would of course be correct in the latter case, but in the concentric oval scenario, there would not be a short, but there might be some DCC waveform interference with multiple signal paths (discussed at length over on the Digitrax group). This is usually not a problem except on the largest layouts however.

Digitrax recommends not looping the LocoNet back on itself, but makes no recommendation as to the track bus. Although there is usually no real harm in looping the track bus, IMO it is best to avoid it, if only to aid troubleshooting.
