When I originally opened the log book, there were duplicates for the two calls sings above on the date provided in the .txt file. I deleted both entries completely from HRD from HRD by deleting "4" QSOs, but still get the same .txt file when I run the Sync. I have searched the DB for the two calls and there are no more occurences.

I am sorry Peter for taking so long to reply.  I have had an ill family member and haven't had much spare time for all things related to ham radio.  But she has now made a full recovery, and I can now return my attention to ham radio! :)

Most of your settings look fine to me, but I think you have the Connection String property pointing to the wrong Access database file.

The connection string setting you have (Provider=MS Access;Data Source=C:\ProgramData\HRDLLC\HRD Logbook\HRD My Logbook.mdb;) specifies an Access database file located in the ProgramData folder structure.  However, I believe it should point to an Access database file located in the AppData folder structure with a full pathname like C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\HRDLLC\HRD Logbook\HRD Logbook.mdb as described on page 14 of the QSO Relay documentation.

There is also a document on the QSO Relay page called "Configuring QSO Relay for Microsoft Access Databases" that you can read, which explains this in more detail and how you can determine the full pathname of the Access database with the 'My Logbook' title in HRD Logbook.  I believe you will find that the 'My Logbook' logbook database is C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\HRDLLC\HRD Logbook\HRD Logbook.mdb.

Hello,

A Newbe here...I have a WIN10 platform which I downloaded and installed the latest version of QSOrelay. Installation went well as per the docs, have a short cut on my desktop but clicking the short cut icon to start, nothing appears to happen, no icon appears in the system tray. I have tried to run in the administrator mode but no difference except the user account page comes up and I clicked YES. I do not have open any of the other components ie WSJT-X or JTAlertx.
Anybody any ideas please?

Sorry, if I remeber corectly QSORelay opens when Jtalertand wsjt are running, I only open those programs and QSO Relay runs on its own.  I'm not at home so I cant walk you through it.

Hi Selwyn,
If there isn’t enough room in the system tray to display the QSO Relay icon, Windows will hide it by default.  If you click on the white up arrow in the system tray, the overflow area will pop up and reveal any hidden icons:



If you find the QSO Relay icon (the white arrow in the red circle) there, you can ‘drag’ it down to the system tray to keep it visible like I have done.

Also, you can check if QSO Relay is running in the background by opening Task Manager and select the Processes tab.  Scroll down under the Background processes heading and look for QSO Relay (Tip: press the ‘Q’ key as a short cut to finding any processes with a name starting with ‘Q’).

The desktop shortcut created by the QSO Relay installation can be copied into the Windows start-up folder so that the program is automatically launched each time Windows starts up.  Copy the Desktop shortcut into the following folder:

 

C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Looking for version 1.6 of QSORelay

Can not get version 1.7 to Sync FT8 QSOs along with JT65 QSOs. Only JT65 QSOs are synced.

Synching all QSOs throws a parsing error in SQLLite.

Perhaps version 1.6 might work?

Hi Chris,

Installed QSO relay last week, everything seems to work fine but the HRD Logbook is not being updated. 
I have checked everything I could. Re-installed software, looked at the experiences of other users, but no luck so far.
One thing I noted is that you are stating that 7826 is the standard port for the Logbook MSAccess connection. In my case is should be 7825 as that is how the Logbook network server address and the DM780 address are set when installing. Or this is my mistake and the 7826 port has another source... Anyway, I have tried leaving everything as is, and changing all to 7826. DM780 does get to the Logbook when using the same port number, however this does not make a difference for the QSO relay app unfortunately.
I have to mention that I am using Win4Icom, which is also connecting to HRD V6 using a build in server. This might be the conflict.

But now I am stuck with options. Hope you can advise me what to do.

I have a Windows 10 Professional installation on my HP Zbook.

Port 7826 is the Logbook API port that implements a proprietary command line interface that allows third party applications like QSO Relay and JTAlert to add contacts to the Logbook using TCP.  Port 7825 is a completely different interface that uses XML packets sent using UDP to log contacts from DM-780.  You must use 7826 as the port number for the Logbook TCP port in QSO Relay, and you should reset the port to 7825 in DM-780.  In hindsight, I should not have made the Logbook TCP port setting in QSO Relay editable.  It should have been read-only, or not displayed at all, as I don't believe the port number can be changed in Logbook.

Please refer to the YouTube video or documentation, both of which are available from www.vk2byi.com, for further information.  You need to use Standard ADIF File logging in JTAlert, and refer to the QSO Relay Settings and Data Flow topic in particular for an overview of the data flow..

If you would like me to take a closer at what might be happening, please read the Reporting an Issue - MUST READ topic for the steps to take to capture a session during an attempt to log a contact.

I should also mention that QSO Relay is no longer required to log contacts from JTAlert to Logbook.  Later versions of JTAlert support direct logging to Logbook via the HRD V5/V6 setting.  This was not always the case in the past which is why QSO Relay was developed.  So you can try using direct logging from JTAlert to Logbook, and close down QSO Relay to see if that helps.

Thanks for your very quick response.
The HDR documentation seems to mis these kind of details on available ports numbers etc. I got confused on the 7825 and 7826 and suspected a typo as HDR did not show new logs from WSJT-X. So I tried. Wrong idea :-)
But you have clarified that bit.

I am using QSO relay because of the many blogs on internet talking about this combination and the need for QSO relay. But I understand your point and will remove QSO relay and see if that setup works with the JTalert setup for HDR6.

Thanks so far. I will test this next week. If I am not succeeding, I will send you the QSO relay logs.

Several changes have been made to the QSO Forwarding features in Logbook in the latest Ham Radio Deluxe 6.4.0.886 release.  One new feature is a UDP datagram listener for the N1MM Logger+ Broadcasts feature that was first implemented in WSJT-X version 1.9.0. which allows direct, automatic logging of QSOs from WSJT-X to Logbook.  This new feature is great for those users running just WSJT-X and HRD Logbook or other loggers with N1MM compatible interfaces.

For those users like myself who routinely use JTAlertX and possibly QSO Relay, using this new listener allows for an alternative configuration that I have managed to get working.  However, I don't recommend using it with JTAlertX for a few reasons:

  • JTAlertX continues to support direct logging to HRD Logbook using the Logbook API;
  • it requires a more complicated set of application settings which offers no real advantage;
  • it makes using QSO Relay mandatory and I am happy for it to remain an option.

So, to provide further explanation and to avoid confusion, I have written a paper that describes various scenarios and the configuration options required to successfully implement working configurations.  The file can also be found in the Files section of this support group.

In summary, if you are using JTAlertX (with or without QSO Relay), no need to change anything.  If you are using QSO Relay, v1.7 remains the latest version.

This version fixes an error where the ADIF header in the Last QSO API packet sent by JTAlertX v2.12.8 or later, was not being parsed correctly which resulted in the contact not being logged in HRD Logbook.

QSO Relay Not Logging Contacts after JTAlert v2.15.1 Update

A new option has been added in version 2.15.1 of JTAlert (HamApps.com) to optionally include an ADIF header in the 'LastQSO.adi' file.  The default setting for this new option is to include the header.

Unfortunately, QSO Relay fails to correctly parse the ADIF record being received from JTAlert if this header is included.  A new version of QSO Relay will be released shortly that will correctly parse the ADIF record regardless of whether or not the header is included.

In the meantime, you can temporarily turn off the option in JTAlert so that the ADIF record will be handled correctly by the current version QSO Relay (v1.8.6930.23917).  Open the JTAlert Settings window, and select Last QSO API under the Logging node and uncheck the Include ADIF Header:
