Basic "How-To" on our new email list home #SVTU
On behalf of everyone here, welcome to our new email list home of the Silicon Valley Transit Users, on groups.io.
The BasicsIf you haven't done so already, please bookmark where you can find this email list home online:https://groups.io/g/svtransitusers What our full groups page looks like: You send email (new topics and replies to topics) to the email list at this address: svtransitusers@groups.io If you haven't done so already, please ensure "svtransitusers@groups.io" is in your Safe Senders list on your email client. It ensures you continue to be updated on new and updated topics here. Here are two sample screen shots of what it all looks like: Also, ensure that "noreply@groups.io" is also in your Safe Senders list. I've had reports of people not getting confirmation email because the "noreply@groups.io" address is being treated as SPAM and this deleted. All of the same rules of conduct we had on Yahoo! Groups - especially involving respect for others' viewpoints - apply here, too. Managing How The List Works For YOUWant better control on how often and where you receive email list content? If you haven't done so already, I strongly suggest you get a groups.io account. Here's where you can register and set up your groups.io account:https://groups.io/register Got an account on Facebook or Google? You can also register using your Facebook or Google account on as a solution, to help simplify your group access. Once registered, you can view and post new content, and contribute to discussions. Also, you can self-manage your subscription with type (individual messages and several types of daily digests) and email address content goes to. Get our content thru email only? The bottom of every post has many of the same options mentioned above. By default, all email replies go to the original sender. It's best to send followups to svtransitusers@groups.io so that everyone can participate. You can also override this for each posting through the group website; get your groups.io account set up first with the steps mentioned above to do so. Email AttachmentsYES, you will be able to send attachments to the email list. Be advised though: photos attached will be trimmed, in terms of size, to 1024x1024 characters. Such attachments go into a repository (Files) which also will be uploaded to our site (https://www.svtransitusers.org) within 24-48 hours. Please consider others' email account size limits first before you send email with attachments to our list.Finally...For those of you who helped me moderate our email list on Yahoo! Groups: you have the same Moderator privileges here. Look for a separate email from me on details on how you can help moderate the email list.Need more info on groups.io and how it works? Read and learn about groups.io here: https://groups.io/helpcenter Special thanks go to Michael Anthony, Judy Purrington for helping me set this up. We have a LOT of things to discuss for now, and into 2021. Your help will be needed on all of it, for sure. More to come. -- Eugene Bradley Founder & CEO, Silicon Valley Transit Users https://www.svtransitusers.org phone/text (408)888-2208 |

Thanks Eugene! Regarding "reply to sender" vs "reply to group", both email and web interfaces let you choose:

In addition to what Michael said, you can also use hashtags just like on Twitter or Facebook to mark certain subjects.
This topic is one such example. It used the hashtag of #SVTU (Silicon Valley Transit Users). It's best to place hashtags at the end of your subject: line in email to the group. Here are the hashtags currently configured by Michael (Anthony) and myself:
For now, only group moderators can add to the #SVTU hashtag. It's reserved for group (management) issues. Issues like how to use this email list to help strengthen ourselves - and local transit.
