Welcome!

*Hello my name is Marcia, I live in the USA. I reside in NJ. I do cloth
dolls, and have recently started to make a cernit doll. It is my first
attempt with cernit but wont be my last. I see some of the classes that
you will be offering on June 8, 2005. I would like to try to take this
class. I don't have a background in designing doll clothes or human
clothes, I will be will to take classes on it if offered in the future,
and time allows me to. Thank you for allowing me to join your group and
I am sure I will have a lot of fun. Again thank you.*

Doll Related Items In Bidville Store

www.haleasdollclothes.com <haleasdollclothes@...>

Hello, everyone!

I have lots of doll related items in my Bidville store. Lots of good bargains.

Copies of vintage public domain patterns; my original pattern designs; vintage and modern dolls; machine embroidery; doll clothes; doll accessories; fabric; trims; laces, etc.

If you would like a machine embroidery design digitized for your doll clothes, please let me know. As a graphic artist I can create many designs. I have tons of vintage redwork and doll clothes embroidery patterns that can be turned into digitized designs. I can let you know what can be done.

My site is well organized by category. You can click on the category on the left side of the page; and then click on "Sort by Title".

I have over 600 patterns in my files. I will be loading items daily. If you don't see what you are looking for, please be sure to ask. I may have it in my house!

Classes...

Sue Darby ~ www.suestinycostumes.com

I have put up a tenative fall class schedule for doll classes. Sign ups will start July 15th as by then I will hopefully have my college and family schedule settled.

101 Drafting will start on the 16th
103 Bustles (new) will be on 21st
102A Styles- from a pattern kit provided but specific dolls only no pre-requisite class (new) will start on 22nd
All in September.

102 Styles - next in the main series will start in late Oct/ early Nov
I'll also be adding in a hoops (104) and a Pannier (105) class

Once I have my Fall college schedules in place I'll be adding in classes for the miniature dolls starting with 101, 102 and 105 (new).

In the meantime I'm starting the outline for the Computerized Drafting class series. The first in the 200 level classes will be on using the tools in Corel Draw (4+). The second will be applying the tools to drafting basic patterns (201). The last will be stylizing the patterns (202). These will hopefully be running by early next year (best laid plans and all that tho!)

Beyond all that I'm not sure what other classes to offer.... anyone have suggestions?

Classes.

Hazel Dowd <hazel.dowd@...>

I just had to say thank those on the list on the list for participating in the
weekend at Sleaford and North Hykeham in Lincolnshire, England. The weekend had been planned for a long while, but it suddenly came up and wow, now its over!

I managed five different dolls during each day , 2 brides, 5 little girl dressing up, 1 lady
in her negligee, 3 different ball gowns and a man doll - on Saturday: 2 brides , 2 little girl
dressing up, 1 negligee,1 modern lady in trousers and 4 Edwardian ladies yesterday. I
will add I was very tired when we arrived home last night, but very happy that everyone went home with a completed doll even with wigging which I don't enjoy!

My hubby took a vast number of photos and I hope to have some up for viewing on my own site.

Without these lists we can't pass on the hints and tips, far different to when I first started
in miniatures when everything was a 'trade secret'

Its really great to hear the comments, "I never expected to like dressing dolls!" and for
students to be proud of what they have achieved is fantastic.

Classes are the best way forward, on line or real time...any time.

Best Wishes

Hazel.

OK time to get this list moving again....

Sue Darby ~ www.suestinycostumes.com

Ask me some questions!

I have several for everyone....
1 IF I developed another class would anyone be interested in a class that
developed basic Fashion doll blocks/slopers into patterns. A hybrid of the
stylizations class with pre made blocks... no drafting just the fun part! (I
already do this for minis and will be running it again this fall with a
different design) It would include a Pattern Kit for whichever doll you
wanted to use for the class.... provided I already have the doll so the list
is limited as I don't have them all yet! It would most likely be for Gene
(in the mail to me yipeeee), Kitty Collier, Tiny Kitty, Barbie (older body
and smooth body) and Brenda Starr (has a Tyler Body). Anyone interested?

2 IF I developed a Club of some form how would you like to see it run and
what dolls would interest you?

3 Other suggestions for patterns or classes? (yes, I'm working on the
computer based classes for drafting but it's a slow process as I have to
realize each step I do and write it all out! At the rate it's going it's
going to take a while longer to develop!)

4 Has anyone made anythign from the patterns you bought from me? Can you
show pictures? Post them in the Photos area of the group! I love to see what
other things people come up with to do with my patterns!

5 This is more a tid bit but did you know that if you ask me I'll let you
sell whatever you make from my patterns at shows and such just don't resell
my patterns as that's my dolly money! ;-) I also ask you post somewhere that
the original design/pattern is by me!

Class announcements...

Sue Darby ~ www.suestinycostumes.com

The current class schedule is up.... I will be updating class pages this
coming week with more information and photos of work. In addition I'll be
working on adding some more classes to be held in Oct and Nov (still taking
the summer off). My college class list and schedule is finally settled and I
can teach classes in addtion to taking my own classes and everything else I
do ;-) a little extra organization is all that will be needed. I'll be
working with Mini Doll U to setup a couple classes for miniatures as well.

Check the calendar pages for Sept for current classes as I still need to do
the updates to the individual class pages.

Sign up buttons for the classes will be on the pages a little later today!

Sue I hope this post is OK. It is the BIG Miniatura Exhibition 17/18th September in the UK. Loads of miniature doll stands along with loads of other miniatures stands in fact 310 stands in total plus trade stands.

I have a special offer on Silk Ribbon. 1mtr each of 7mm, 4mm, 2mm in matching shades. just arrived in time for the event.

Not got a lot done this summer, it's been far too hot over in the UK for me, I am an Autumn/Winter/Spring person. Not complaining, I like to see everyone enjoying themselves but heat does not agree with me.

Site updates and announcements.

Sue Darby ~ www.suestinycostumes.com

I know it has been a long time since I've posted. Frankly there is a lot
going on for me. I have gone back to college to get a Bachelors in Business
Marketing and the 6 credits of classes I am taking have taken over every
waking second for the last month! I've finally found a day where I don't
have homework or something else to do and have done a bit of site
maintenance and some updating to things that needed to be fixed.

- My Little Bo Peep & her Sheep will be in the NEXT issue of
International Doll Magazine and were entered into the Alaska State Fair and
placed 1st.
- All classes are currently suspended as in I'm not teaching until
probably around or just after Christmas depending on time if not then
possibly not until summer as 6 credits (per semester) of Bachelors level
classes is taking a lot more time than I'd planned on. ;-) On the positive
side of this however, I am developing a more interactive and interesting way
of teaching the classes.
- I will continue to hopefully find or make the time to create
patterns for International Doll for several more issues ;-) This means I
will be putting out patterns just not frequently.
- As I find time I hope to finish off some of the
ready-to-go-but-needs-tweaking patterns over the coming weeks.

I have already learned a few new things and am looking forward to
integrating them into my current plans and goals. I hope all is well with
everyone and welcome to new members!

What I've Been Up To (Mostly Doll Related) and Wanted - I thru Z

www.haleasdollclothes.com <haleasdollclothes@...>

Hello, everybody!

I want to let you know that my personal e-mail has changed to haleasdollclothes@.... You may see the address in "Reply To". The other addresses will still work just fine, but I had to forward them from my Yahoo account to a new account because there was a corrupted e-mail from a Yahoo message board and the rest of the messages refused to download through Outlook as a result.

I apologize for so little participation in recent weeks. Among other activities, I've been "fighting" for a couple of weeks with my Outlook 2003, and finally just gave up and went back to my old reliable Outlook Express. After all the trouble I've had, I have discovered in Microsoft Forums that Outlook 2003 has some issues that I don't want to have to deal with. I should have looked on the forums immediately. I don't know what I will do if Outlook Express becomes unavailable on newer computers.

We have been battling allergies for the past couple of weeks.

Our peppy puppy, Peppy, is doing quite well, however, he outsmarts us. We thought we would discipline him by saying "No" firmly and putting him in his crate every time he chased the cats. Now, just as soon as he chases a cat, he flies into his crate before we can even tell him, "No". The cats, however, are so annoyed by our new addition, they are stalking us. It's really quite scary. Peppy has been here about three months, and they have not yet adjusted. Nacha makes a point of harassing him by hissing at him with every opportunity. Peppy has learned not to mess with Nacha, but it doesn't prevent him from cautiously following him everywhere.

Now I can take some time to get some things loaded into my Doll Page Store. I will be slowly converting my Bidville auctions to my Doll Page Store. I love Bidville, but I would rather have all my dolly things in a dolly place. Lots of customers were asking me if I could sell outside of Bidville and ebay, so it just makes sense to put them in a place where people don't have to sign in to buy.

And, as a note of blessing, for the past few weeks we have not been driven out of the house by the bridge construction that has been going in front of our house since April. Once the construction moved to the opposite side of the road the noise hasn't been quite so bad. Still there, but it doesn't resonate through our brains with constant vibrations and nervewracking pounding. I lost some really sweet antiques and gifts from family members and friends from our kitchen shelves because they crashed to the floor. I never thought to take them down while the construction was going on. The shelf in my sewing room upstairs buckled from the vibrations and brought down my collection of children's sewing machines onto the top of a light. One of my DC left the light on, and the plastic shade melted onto the light bulb. We are so lucky the house didn't burn!

I'm crocheting a long-overdue afghan for my 11 year old son. I promised him an afghan years ago and never got around to making it. I started it 1-1/2 weeks ago, and I'm almost finished. Consequently, no sewing or much of anything else is getting done.

Halea has made a couple of gorgeous gowns for Tiny Kitty Collier. She sold one at the Shaker Doll Show. The other gown has a crease line in the silk skirt and we are trying to figure out how to remove it. She is now working on a "Phantom of the Opera" Christine outfit for Tiny Kitty. Halea is seriously thinking of theater costuming for a career. She is also a very talented classical pianist, but doesn't get involved in public performances unless it is her yearly recital, so we are trying to talk her into doing something that doesn't require performing in front of the public. She could do it because she is cool as a cucumber at her recitals (until she's done playing), but she hasn't actively looked for other public places to perform. She thinks she would like to be a college professor, too. Since she is obsessive about both activities, we hope she will major in design and minor in music. Of course, the decision will be entirely up to Halea.

When I attended the Shaker Doll Show in September, I found a really cool book, "Fashions for Dolls", by Barbara Drew. The book was published in 1973, but copyrighted in 1968. I fell in love with the tons of patterns at the back of the book. I will be very happy if I can find the doll mentioned and pictured in the book.

Here's her picture:

http://www.thedollpage.com/marketplace/listingview.php?num=719

She is 19" tall, and marked "Made In Italy". Her name may be Kate. She has very wide shoulders and a narrow waist. I believe her face may be vinyl and the rest of her may be typical inexpensive 1960's/1970's hard plastic. I can see mold marks on her hands and feet in the photos. Because the book was copyrighted in 1968, the doll is mostly likely manufactured before that year.

I feel as though I'm looking for a lost child!

I have also tried to find out if Barbara Drew is still alive, and if I can find an address to write to her, but nothing so far.

Meanwhile, I fell for and purchased a 1967 18" Italocremona doll from a wonderful seller on ebay. I think she may fit into Magic Attic Club sized clothes. It's funny how one quest can blossom into other acquisitions. I remember going through the Sears Christmas Wishbook every year when I was a kid, and wanted one of these dolls very much. This sweetie is a delight! She is very well made and has an incredibly sweet face. I would love to find the clothes that were advertised for her in the catalogue.

I am also looking for a rubber body for a very rare 11-12" African-American American Character Tiny Tears from the 1950's. I have a head and torso, just missing the arms and legs. I will be happy to take an entire torso and limbs, though. The little bit I have is in excellent condition.

The last thing I am looking for is a vintage McCall's pattern #1715. It's not the vintage women's clothing pattern that I have found out on the Internet, it is an embroidery pattern.

I have been looking for all of these things on the Internet, Ruby Lane, ebay, Yahoo, and Bidville and have come up with nothing.

Some dear enabling soul posted a link to Heidi Ott miniature babies, and I purchased two from England this morning. I can't wait to meet them! I almost purchased the matching knitting pattern books and tiny needles, but I think instead I will make my own crocheted patterns for them after they arrive. My hands have become too shaky from my anti-seizure medicine and I am sure I will lose stitches on knitting needles.

Talk about enablers! I was about to put my dolly Radio Flyer wagon up for sale, when my husband put three 7" Little Betsy Wetsy babies in it, and they are having a grand time! Now I don't have the heart to sell the wagon! My Little Betsy Wetsies are very pampered. I might worry that my influence will make them spoiled, however, they will never go past their current age, so I believe my concern is moot.

On top of that, my daughter sent me an e-mail with a link to Tonner's new Engelbreit baby, Lilah. I'm going to have to wait until the company comes out with a far less expensive version, but I will be drooling in the meantime. She has a Baby Patsyette body, and she's 9 inches of darned cute! At first I thought she might be the size of a DyDee.

For anyone willing to pray, please keep us in your prayers. We have been "churchless" for a couple of years and seem to have finally found one. The trek is rather far for current gas prices, but we can get some serious grocery shopping done after church.

The weather will cool this coming Saturday and I will be quite relieved! We have already made our yearly trip to Goold Orchards for apples, cider and homemade donuts. Yummy!

A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel - unless you have four cats and a Shih-Tzu!
