Welcome to the group! Please take the time to post a
short (or long) introduction. Simple stuff like your
name and where you are in the world. I'd also like
to know about the types of styles you are looking
for and how you found my site or the group!
All new members are moderated and once you've posted
I can remove the moderation no problem.... it helps
to prevent the spam some of the other doll and mini
groups seem to be getting!
Feel free to let us know if you have items on E-bay
but please only post that you have stuff once....
suggestion is to post your about me page or your
sellers items list so we can see everything at
once.... you can in a list tell us about the
auctions but please one link and one e-mail a day!
Tell us about your mini projects... room boxes or
dollhouses.... a lot of the patterns I have would do
wonderfully in a wardrobe setting... no doll
required. Custom patterns are also an option.... I
love fun things like the challenge of a custom item
for just the right setting.
Anyway I'm done chattering here. Please post so we
can keep the list moving!
Old and new members .... welcome!

Welcome

Sue <sue@...>

I wanted to belatedly welcome all the new members!
Please post an intro about your business or what you'd like to learn!
My latest is I've been waiting patiently for the last 2 weeks for the
computers to settle... hubby built a new one for himself for his
school work and I got the older one (only a year old but still better
than what I had!) Unfortunately for me hubby ordered several wrong
parts.. or forgot some things and has a new tech system he's doing so
the parts are specific so we're still waiting for things to show up!
So I have everythign backed up and am just waiting until his system is
built so he'll reformat my computer .... doing this to get all the
registry stuff off it and give me a clean start with the system... but
man is it a lot of work to reinstall everything from scratch.... but I
am going to be installing a web server to play with some new toys for
the website... a database driven site as my current one is over 200
pages and a bear to update! I'm going to also work on developing a
pattern club which will be by subscription.... I have a ton of things
I want to get done but have to wait patiently until my computer is
specifically MINE! LOL

OK questions for the week/month....

How would you run a pattern club? By doll type? By month? By 6 months?
Yearly? Password protected area? What would you want included in a
club area? What dolls would you be interested in for a club?

Classes.... would anyone be interested in a 102 Special Stylizatios
class..... a class based off of a pre-made (by me) set of blocks.. how
to stylize the patterns without learning the drafting process.... it
does help to know what makes a pattern tick but the styles is by far
the more fun part of the creative process! If so which dolls that I
already draft for? Tiny Kitty, Tiny Betsy, Barbie... who?

Answer any or all of the above or just talk about your own doll
adventures!

Have fun all... dolls are supposed to be fun!

Cresindel's Home and History Sign ups Extended to Friday Night Midnight Alaskan Time

Sue~Sue's Tiny Costumes <sue@...>

Cresindel is a Character in a fantasy game titled simply The Empire. It was a world created in my good frien George Davis' imagination and the map of her world is posted above with his permission.
Cresindel is one of few females in the dwarven Clans. Her clan name is Kiltargh as one of her ancestors took one look at a kilt that was offered to him and went "A Kilt... arrrgggggh" as in now way are you getting me to wear that give it to the females. Cresindel does wear a kilt but only for special formal occations.
She lived in the north at the border of the Dwarven Kingdoms and human lands thus she is well versed in the ways of both races.
As a child she was discovered to have a talent for healing the sick and knowing just what to do to heal the injured as well. It was the decision of the Clan Elder that when she became of age that she would travel to House Ayil and be formally trained as a Healer. She has just completed this training officially and has been released to take care of a local mystery... some merchants are coming up missing on a well travelled road and she has gone off with a group of people who needed her skills. She is now a Journeyman Healer.
Cresindel's Healing costume is her uniform from her schooling  a basic dress and pinafore. Her Adventuring costume is what she is off adventuring in. The adventuring costume is comfortable suede pants and a tunic along with mock leather armour. Normally she uses a short spear and a light crossbow to fight off monsters.
Lucie worked magic by creating a doll that looks exactly as I envisioned this character to look. I hope everyone will enjoy joining me for the class. Tomorrow is the last day to sign up!

Today is the LAST day!

Sue~Sue's Tiny Costumes <sue@...>

102 sign ups close tonight at midnight Alaskan time (yup gives everyone a couple hours into tomorrow technically) If you've taken 101 this is the only time I'm offering 102 in 2004! I will offer it again next year but I'm not sure exactly when it could be February or it could be April before I do it! I do know a 101 will run in January sometime (tenative still depending on moving and all).
Cresindel ends in exactly 1 week now... there will be a promo of some form on the Mini Doll List next week that my cohourt Lucie (created the doll) will be running so the sign ups were extended on purpose for that. Photots of Cresindel are found on http://www.suestinycostumes.com/mdu/coursedesc/cresindel.html and info on 102 is found on http://www.suestinycostumes.com/mdu/coursedesc/102/intro102.html Those that are signed up I will work on getting you your information later today.... I have to get everyone off to school (my day to volunteer as well), do appts & shopping and then guests over tonight but I'll make the time somehow in between it all!

Cresindel Class...

Sue~Sue's Tiny Costumes <sue@...>

Well with a bit of trial & error (bought the wrong type of scissors for part of the project and had to wait for on order of the correct ones to arrive) I finally managed to finish Cresindel's second outfit for class! She can be seen below or on www.suestinycostumes.com on the Cresindel page (link at the top). I think the outfit turned out very well.
Sign ups end soon for this class!

Server & e-mail woes....

Sue <sue@...>

My friend who hosts my e-mail and site is having DSL problems... dumb
thing is we're hosted throught he same company and I'm not having any
troubles so until MTA (company we get our service from) gets off it's
duff and fixes things I'm on special notices in an attempt to keep my
inbox from bouncing. I'll be checking my suestinycostumes@...

I'll also be posting from the web so all private mail or responses
need to go to Hotmail or Yahoo. This also includes any questions about

Off to go play with about a dozen little *angels* (not) at my

Re: Ideas on Pattern club

Sue~Sue's Tiny Costumes <sue@...>

Problem there.. the pattern of the month would be just that one new pattern every month exclusively to members... not even I would know what doll or what the design would be and the patterns are already as low as I can go for prices so a discount is cutting into what little I pay myself after the drafting time, testing time and writing time for each one... technically I'm not even paying myself a wage on each one.... maybe a monthly thing would be fine.....a subscription for a year and the year lasts until they've gotten 12 patterns that are wanted.... or a subscription for 3 months hmmm not sure..... need more brainstorming and am taking this message to the main group and the biz group. What I was thinking for the club idea was more along the lines of the larger dolls and taking one a month and doing a pattern of the month club type deal where I offer a special pattern just for club members.... of course previous patterns would be available for the club members since someone new might have wanted the pattern that was done 6 months ago but they would not be the general patterns and would be in a club exclusive area.. the whole password protected area and everything.... a special area with special content.
Well this is going to have to wait a few weeks at least... got classes to teach and beginning of the month hubby is building himself a better computer with his student loans so I'll finally have a better computer which I plan on setting up with at least WinIIs for a server for testing stuff.... might later on setup Apache on it instead as I'll need to learn a few tricks but hopefully that will be fairly simple as my host will be learning as well.. he a computer guy and very bright (masters in physics I believe) but not all computer guys know everything and have to learn sometime!
Anyway I'll have to do some brainstorming on the logisitics and back end of how a club will work... heck need to setup my download area with asp and automate it a bit too still but again after the computer switch... I'm still plannning it all out and thought if I'm going to setup one password area why not another LOL... me and my biiiig ideas!

Hi Sue Perhaps if you start a pattern club you could
give a discount on the patterns if they buy them by
the year and show what patterns they would be. You
could also find out if anyone doesn't want a certain
pattern that way too and send them only ones they
want. You can also sell them monthly for people who
can't afford to buy them by the year. This way they
buy only the ones they want. This is just one idea,
you will probably get many more. Dianne

Classes & more!

Sue~Sue's Tiny Costumes <sue@...>

Just a heads up that sign ups are in progress for both 102 and Cresindel. The links are the first 2 on the top of the home page. Due to Cresindel having a kit that class closes sooner than normal to allow for transit time from Alaska and Massachuettes.
Cresindel has 1 photo of the first outfit up on her page. I am currently waiting for soem pinking shears I ordered for the last piece of the second outfit which is done except for the 3rd piece which needs the pinking shears... BTW that's one of the items that you'll need for class and no the paper version won't work.... been there tried that and that's why the shears are on order!
If you've taken 101 or are in the process of finishing it up please keep in mind that you will need at least the basic bodice block for the first class.
Now as I also need to not break my own rule on one of my own lists (pure advertising posts with no other info or content) I'll also ask here about a couple of ideas I have in mind!
A pattern of the month club... not sure how it'll work possibly a yearly fee and 12-14 patterns exclusively for the club or something like that... if anyone has ideas on how to run it drop notes!
The other one is a class idea based off of the larger dolls and their pattern kits only I would be creating a basic block pattern kit and offering a class in styles. I don't have too many larger dolls but I'm thinking that I'd do this up for Tiny Kitty, Barbie (various varieties- Flava, My Scene, 80's, super size, perhaps Skipper etc... except Silkstone as I don't have one), Dollfies (I'll have 2 or more soon) and Brenda Starr (as soon as she arrives in the mail hopefully this week!) As for how this class would run I'm not positive on it yet as it's only an idea... a brainstorm I jotted down this afternoon while playing with patterns and sample making and other fun stuff for my dolls..
Anyway thought I'd run all this past my groups and see if anyone is interested or has suggestions on how to do either idea! Post to the groups or e-mail me!

Patterns On Yahoo Auctions

Kathy Dickinson <haleasdollclothes@...>

Hello, everyone.

I'm cleaning out my files and I will be loading lots of vintage
patterns on Yahoo auctions. These will include doll clothes and
people patterns that can be scaled down to make doll clothes.

I concentrate on small baby doll clothes, have many duplicates and
will not be using the vintage patterns for larger or child dolls.

Please put my auctions in your favorites.

Thank you.

New Here

stine4115 <stine4115@...>

Howdy! New here. I have the 8" dolls - tiny Betsy, Madeline &
Friends and a Ginny doll. I like to make clothes for them - sewn,
crochet & knit. My name is Stine (Steen). I live in Portland, OR. I'm
married to Michael (36 years). I've just discovered Sue's patterns
and am anxious to try making some new clothes for the "girls". This
evening I'm planning on making some necklaces and bracelets for the
girls to wear with their outfits. We'll see how that goes.
