    Hi All,

This has nothing to do specifically with Groups.io. There's a phishing attack going on right now
that's apparently fairly widespread, involving Google Docs invites. If you receive an unexpected
invite to a Google Doc, don't click it, delete it.

As a reminder, and in general, you should turn on two factor authentication for all your accounts,
including your email account and your Groups.io account.

    Cheers,
    Mark

    Friends,
Nine employees at Brookwood School just got targeted with the same malicious email disguised
as a shared Google Doc.  (The listserv doesn't allow me to attach a screenshot)
The emails all came from someone the recipient knew.  Mousing-over the link for "Open in Docs"
reveals that it DOES APPEAR to point to Google BUT buried in the link is a "redirect" to a
malicious website.  I haven't dug into all of them but so far the redirect points to these domains:
            googledocs.g-cloud-DOT-win
            googledocs.g-docs-DOT-pro

Apparently we're not the only school being targeted.
These universities just posted information about the same malicious emails:

Beware of Active Widespread Phishing Scam

Many members of the Temple community are receiving a phishing email inviting them to share a Google Doc. Do not click on any links on any of these invitations unless you call the sender to verify that they actually sent it to you.

Please be aware that this is currently a far-reaching scam, not limited to Temple University as reported in the news.

Use extra caution with any email that asks you to click on a link or provide any personal information. There is a good chance that you will continue to receive similar phishing messages from other sources.

If you have any questions, please contact the Help Desk via tuhelp.temple.edu or call 215-204-8000.
