Workers arestrongly encouraged to stay out of the kitchen and instead go fornutrition-free microwave meals, sugar-loaded treats and expensive takeaways, and then they’re made to feel bad for being self-indulgent and obese. 6 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT LENIN – ACHECKLIST

How manytimes have you wanted to trundle out a killer quote by Lenin which would holeyour Leninist opponent below the waterline – only to find you can’t rememberthe quote or the source? Why don’t we put together a list of six of the best? Why not do Trotsky and Stalin too, while we’re at it?

Hi Paddy and All

Very interesting set of talks lined up.   Just to throw my ha'penny's worth in here's one or two useful links I came across recently

On the human nature talk I found this which could be useful - a very long text of over 500 pages on "Unpaid Work in the Global Economy" - in fact the most comprehensive work on this subject I have ever come across.   It make the point  that "If it is measured in hours worked there is a greater volume of non-remunerated work than of remunerated work on a global scale" (p.28). So lots of empirical evidence to refute the claim that people will only work with the incentive of money:

There is also a link to a classic text which shows that paying people to work can actually act as a DISINCENTIVE to work. It undermines what industrial psychologists call the intrinsic motivation to work.

On the Lenin talk, the Workers Solidarity Movement in Ireland  has published some useful articles with Lenin quotes such as this:

An anarchist critique of Lenin | Workers Solidarity Movement

Hope this helps

Terrible article, pulling quotes from Lenin completely out of context. For example, where Lenin talks about huge banks in the sense of data-banks, accounting systems (very prescient indeed, he would be glad to know Internet is coming) that are indispensable for a socialist society, the article simply presents it as Lenin wishing to instate control of a gigantic financial organisation over workers.
There is very little of interest in this article, I would strongly urge people to read the source instead, i.e. Lenin's Collected Works. If anyone is interested, I can send scanned copies of the books.

Excellent choice of subjects. Brilliant set of speakers!
So good to see Paul Bennett on the list.
Cheers Paddy, Steve and Carla, for all the effort you
guys are putting into promoting and organising these
Discord/Zoom platforms.
Fucking awesome!! Deserve to be well attended.
