Our disconnect from Yahoogroups and my slow to get on Group IO has me
very late making this request. Sorry. A week from today the Dancing Bear Lodge in Townsend TN is hosing a dinner and the sky viewing. Here is a Facebook announcement: https://www.facebook.com/events/439314763409499/ For five SMAS members we can get a free meal if we also bring telescopes and do show and tell of the sky. Please help. If I recall correctly there are only Duane and myself confirmed at this time. My bad if I have forgotten anyone else. The first three more to get back to me at my phone number below so we can all get on the same page for what to do and show people. The event is 5-10 PM on Thursday Jan 23. This could be great fun. Lee, if the weather is decent, I'll be there with the 12" dob. I won't plan on dinner but will arrive about 5:30 to set up before dark. I assume we're setting up in the open field where the original Lodge burnt down?

Hello Richard, Thanks for confirming. Regarding the old lodge I know not the story. We go up a road near the apple barn or apple restaurant.

The lodge burned down several years ago and that area is now the "event lawn" where they host weddings, etc. That is the only area open to the night sky so I assume that's where we'll set up. The road into Dancing Bear is just after Apple Valley on the right. Go up the hill and bear left at the top of the hill - leads right to the restaurant and Event Lawn.
