FW: Brent Holt, Mirror Testing Question at Knox Observers FaceBook
I just got in touch with long time SMAS member.
There was some traffic on the Knoxville Observers about mirror testing which made me think of Brent Hold. So I called him and discussed it and got his current email address
Brent does not do Facebook so I sent him screen shots which I wanted to share. Brent says he has not observed much lately and welcomed a push to do so.
I told him about my Saturday Solar Observing at Blount Count Public Library and hope for some Star Parties soon. This Saturday may be clear. And cold. Lee

Folks, don't overlook collimation. A poorly collimated scope can make a mirror look bad. Don't ask me how I know.
And if I remember right, short focal ratio scopes are more sensitive to collimation. My experience was with a 6" F/5 Newtonian. It was badly misaligned when I got it. Really nice image now. But I struggled mightily with collimation.
