Purple Martins, Atascadero Lake

Mike Bush and I walked around Atascadero Lake this morning and the high point was a group of about 15 Purple Martins perching in two snags and flying around the southeast part of the lake. We were surprised by the number. We witnessed juveniles fed by adults several times. After some time they all flew off. For what it's worth, this was not too far from the SanGabriel/Highway 41 location where martins have been seen over the years. Distant photos on my Flickr page:
