Marbled Murrelets - Cayucos

Thanks to a heads-up from Tom Edell this morning I was able to refind the reported 2 Marbled Murrelets as seen from Lucerne Drive Overlook.  Jeanette Stone arrived shortly after I did and we were able to share in the fun of finding and re-finding the often elusive pair.

They were quite a ways off shore and a scope was necessary for a positive id.  Their distinct shape, non-breeding plumage, dark brown upperparts, white strip on scapulars and white underparts were all visible. There were grebes, loons and cormorants in the area as well. The 2 MAMU were last seen heading north along the coast.
