Ira Lease Park Broad-billed Hummingbird and Tennessee Warbler, 11/23
Tom Edell
The immature male Broad-billed Hummingbird continued at Ira Lease Park late this morning. It was as is usual perched in the small row of New Zealand Christmas Trees at the inland end of the parking lot. At one point it flew over Pismo Creek into the RV Park but reappeared in the Christmas trees within 5 minutes. I suppose it could be visiting a hummingbird feeder in the RV Park.
I walked up creek along the cement path and when I reached the fence at the inland end found a Tennessee Warbler foraging in ground level vegetation in the vacant lot behind the condos(?). Good fall for this species with at least 19 different birds recorded, 18 west of the Santa Lucia Range and one inland of the range in Atascadero!
Nothing else of note found in the park or along the creek.
