The FRANKLIN'S GULL previously
reported continued last evening as of 7pm in a flock of sub-adult
California Gulls on the beach just off the Pismo Creek parking
lot, by the lifeguard towers. The gull was spotted in the flock
by Nick Belardes at the last moment after a long search.
Also of modest interest, a year-old BONAPARTE'S GULL fed at surf
edge between the parking lot and the creek mouth drainage to the
ocean. There were probably 500 sub-adult California Gulls in
various flocks on the sand within 1/4 mile of the pier, almost
homogeneously Californias, with a few WESTERN GULLS among them.
One two-year old HEERMAN'S GULL was in one of the flocks.
