I was on the paved path above the little shore populated with mallards. I’d just seen a Sora with the ducks. The Sora had flown across the creek into the reeds. A few minutes later at about 9:03, I was still able to see the Sora, when the Palm Warbler popped out from the reeds right next to the bird, tail flicking, low in the reeds very close to the water. I observed the warbler pop in and out of the reeds for less than a minute. I had to leave for an appointment or would have observed the bird longer."

- Comments: "This juvenile night-Heron was on the edge of the bay with two Black-crowned Night-herons. It was not light enough to see many details, but I could see the thicker dagger like bill, compared with the two Black-crowneds. It called several times - a distinctly different “skow” as compared with the Black-crowned “skwaak”. I assume it was one of the two Yellow-crowned Night Herons that have been hanging out at the Morro Bay State Park Marina."

Red-tailed Hawk (Harlan's) (Buteo jamaicensis harlani) (1)

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S61212846
- Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "Seen circling overhead with a Turkey Vulture, the relative size and somewhat broad wing shape identified it as a Red-tailed Hawk, but the striking dark contrast of the wing linings, black trailing edge to the wings, and a light tail with an indistinct terminal band caught my attention. Referring to the photographs, a white-streaked chest contrasted with the otherwise black lower body and wing linings, flight feathers were noticeably banded, tail was mostly white with a smudgy band and some brownish color in the central rectrices, and the head and nape were a mottled grayish color. Not certain of the bird's age from the low-quality images, but the pattern on the primaries and secondaries appeared to be rather uniform, possibly indicating an adult. The bird hovered briefly then continued circling downwind over a ridge to the southeast."
