Need bird seed?
I hope it's OK to post this. I bought bird seed at Tractor Supply a while ago and no birds are interested. I get mainly finches and the like, so maybe it's the wrong type. I have 11 lbs. of Royal Wing

Oso Flaco Sunday
Walked Oso Flaco from the entrance to the beach today. There were 9 Scaups on the east lake, but too far away to nail down whether Lesser or Greater. The main lake was teeming with Northern Shovelers,

If I may, bats
On my daily promenade in Grover Beach this evening I happened upon a dozen or so small bats foraging in the air by the huge eucalyptus trees edging the Station Grill parking lot. When I returned 10-15

Oceano beach Weds.10/28
Took a next-to-last walk on Oceano Beach prior to return of vehicles. I saw 68 of what I took to be Black-bellied plovers, but I'm puzzled by their coloring. These birds' mottling on the back and wing
