Pine Siskins
Had 2 Pine Siskins at a thistle feeder on 11/19. Yesterday there were a total of 5.
Goldfinch numbers are way down - I suspect it may have something to do with the regular attacks by a Sharp-shinned

Red-faced Cormorant
For those who saw the eBird report of this species at Cambria be advised that a photo of the bird proved it to be a Double-crested Cormorant. This is a very unlikely species for the county given there

Re: Sage Thrasher
Good posts, Wes and Kaaren,
I'll just add that in a birding world of only eBird, we ('mature individuals') would have missed Roger Higson in his full and infamous glory on Inland County Birding.

Re: Sage Thrasher
Hi All,
I can not echo Kaaren’s words loud enough.
When I was a young birder, the youngest one birding at the time in SOCAL and beyond, this is how we did it. And written description of a CBRC

Re: Sage Thrasher
Thanks for the heads up, Norma! Many of us who have been birding since before there was an ebird, (yes youngsters and new comers there was a time ;-) truly appreciate when a post comes in on

Golden Plover, etc at Sea Pines
While looking for the Sage Thrasher reported at the golf course (no luck so far), birders here found a Common Goldeneye female on the eastern pond, with a snipe on the shore. The Pacific Golden Plover

Re: Lark Sparrow
Today around 15:00 we saw a small flock of Lark Sparrows at Laguna Lake park; they were foraging on the ground at the first left turn (towards the lake) from the entrance road to the park. Has anyone

Sage Thrasher
Saw the sage thrasher at 3:30 p.m. today at El Dorado St. across from Sea Pines G.C. flying from a yard up to the roof top. Posed for a good minute or more. I think it had been spotted earlier today

Peregrine Falcon - Morro Bay State Park Marina
First seen by us on Nov. 17, we saw a female peregrine falcon at this location.
Perched today near Bayside Cafe with full crop. Of note, it was sitting in a spot where we frequently see an Osprey

Oso Flaco Sunday
Walked Oso Flaco from the entrance to the beach today. There were 9 Scaups on the east lake, but too far away to nail down whether Lesser or Greater. The main lake was teeming with Northern Shovelers,
