- Comments: "Continuing from 2020. Re-found by Will Knowlton on or around Jan. 3. I had one previous sighting on Dec. 6, 2020 (https://ebird.org/checklist/S77167279). Though my photos today were taken in poor lighting, it is obvious the 1st-winter pale plumage along the base of the duck’s bill has more strongly developed into a crescent. It was clear through binocs too and with just eyeing the bird without them. When I arrived, Mike Bush said he found the bird fifty or so yards west of the pedestrian bridge. We walked to nearby dunes for a slightly better angle for photos. The bird swam and dove ten or so yards from the opposite shore. It wasn’t mingling with any of the ruddies."
