Swamp Sparrow, Morro Creek, 10/4

Tom Edell

Checked a few locations this morning. Most interesting bird was an early Swamp Sparrow on Morro Creek up creek of the pedestrian bridge by the beach. Two American Avocets were at the creek lagoon. Earlier, at least one of the four Black-necked Stilts Steve Tillman found yesterday afternoon was still at the small shallow lagoon north of Alva Paul Creek at Morro Strand State Beach.

Three male and two female Redheads were with an estimated 1500 American Coots and about 100 Ring-necked Ducks at Whale Rock Reservoir this morning.

I was told that the Blackburnian Warbler was present again this morning at Del Mar Park, Morro Bay.
