Different from Ring-necked Duck:
Pearl-gray speculum, not seen on Ring-necked Ducks; rounder head; less obvious pale eyering; longer bill and of a slightly different shape; less white feathering around the bill; dark feathers molting in on the breast."

- Comments: "Birds was first seen just west of Dalidio Road on road to lake and then along Dalidio at the intersection with the road to the lake and restrooms. Small sparrow compared to adjacent White-crowned Sparrows. It was pale below with a bit of clay color at the shoulder and along the flanks, had pale lores and a dark line posterior to the eye, dark lateral throat stripes, a gray collar and a small pinkish bill. See photos"
