Grebes at Santa Margarita Lake

Yesterday morning at 8 am the western and Clark's grebes were napping but by 9 they were awake, pairing up, calling across the lake and dancing like crazy. Here is my best shot: https://www.flickr.com/photos/avilavicki/

Other sightings: Cooper's hawk, tree swallows, western bluebirds, a huge flock of common mergansers, white pelicans, red-tailed hawks, cormorants, turkey vultures.

The guy at the marina store said the lake is at 12 percent full. Bad number but lots of birds around.
