Re: MacOS deployment #osx #github

Hello, iam very happy that someone provided a DMG for MACosX!

i downloaded to linked DMG some days below and use it under HighSierra, RTLsdr is found by SDRangel, but my hackrf not. Hackrf info is working and GQRX with it also.

Firmware of hackRF is latest 2018.1
Any hints whats wrong?

Thanks, André

FYI:
I have successfully built all the plugins/devices/libs ...
now to try this RX_SAMPLE_24BIT rebuild...

In next days I will have some fresh packaged version,
with the most, if not all HW support...

There I won't be able to confirm runtime for the certain drivers...

I am planning to buy some new SDR platforms,
for now I am deciding for LimeSDR...

FMI:
Are there any suggestions which platforms you find the most popular/advanced/broadest?

Edited

Ok.
How will this affect other sample devices when using 24bits?

My intention now is about doing it from beginning....
(And to have only one package on end.... if possible)
Right now I wan't to prepare build config with sampledevices:
airspy
airspyhf
bladerf1input
bladerf2input
filesource
hackrfinput
limesdrinput
perseus
plutosdrinput
rtlsdr
sdrdaemonsource
sdrplay
soapysdrinput
testsource

Would it go with one build config?
Or should I distinguish between sample allocation sizes,
and build packages - based on 16/24bits device samples

I hope 24bits allocator can work with 16bits? :|

Thanks,

Hello,

this is here: https://github.com/f4exb/sdrangel/blob/master/CMakeLists.txt#L193 SDRangel can be compiled with 16 bit I/Q samples (2x2 bytes) or 24 bit I/Q samples (2x4 bytes). AS this cannot be changed dynamically you have to choose it as an option at compile time.

Best regards,
Edouard.

Dear Edouard,

I could not find this macro switch option in f4exb/libperseus-sdr....
Only SDR_RX_SAMPLE_24BIT in sdrbase/demodssb ... is that the one?

I was expecting this in libperseus-sdr...

The branch I used for build was "fixes", is that correct?

Hello Dana,

I believe you can create "Commands" to do such things as PTT, I think the images on this page https://github.com/f4exb/sdrangel/blob/master/sdrgui/readme.md show the use of the Space bar as the trigger for PTT.

It may be possible for you to use the REST interface to build a interface that suits your needs.

I have the spectrum display set up much cleaner now, took some playing with controls.
Very Stable with the HackRF now on MacOS Mojave!!

Transmit and Receive  with Hack RF from 50 Mhz to 5760 Mhz now.  This is very nice !!

Just needs :
1. A nice “tuning knob” GUI!
2. PUSH TO TALK SWITCH to go from RX to TX …  is Possible with HackRF as its half duplex. ie a toggle to go from RX to TX  (Turn R0 off and R1 ON etc)

Note for Perseus: Perseus uses native 24 bit samples and therefore to get the full advantage of the Perseus dynamic range you will need to compile with -DRX_SAMPLE_24BIT=ON option on cmake line (or whatever is the equivalent for your build). The Perseus ADC is 14 bit but the FPGA recovers bits by decimation and after formatting the samples are sent on 2x3 bytes (24 bits).

Ok receive working - but spectrum display is not clean with multiple spurs above and below the main signal.
Transmit is fine on CW working well, HackRF LO drifts but that can be corrected.

Any way to clean up the receive spectrum window? Its not a nice clean display. This appears
to have been the design… but certainly does not look good compared to other software. Is there a reason??

I reinstalled from the DMG again over the original and now it sees the HackRF source.
So I guess libiio needs installation.
then reinstall the DMG.
So Z next version should have libiio install.
Let you know how transmit works on CW/SSB.
