Claimed scores for UK AC & FM issue
Tony (G4LDL)
Some of you may recall that I have had from time to time a problem in submitting a claimed score. I believe one or two others have experienced the same problem. It happened again last night when the SSB entry went into claimed scores ok but the FM entry would not - using exactly the same sequence of operations for both. I reported this (again) and am glad to say that a problem has indeed been found & hopefully rectified. If it happens again I have been asked to report it once more. Glad we finished last night before the snow came!. Tony G4LDL |

Tony, I have submitted UKAC log and claimed the score which is 4171 points, it is shown on the RSGB website as Logs Received list, but is not shown in the claimed Score’s list, even though I have received an Online Log Generator Email confirming log entry submitted about an hour ago. Is there a delay or is it the same issue you had and how did you resolve it. I had no problem with the FMAC entry it show up in both list on the RSGB website ok.

Elwyn,
Submitting your log and Submitting a claimed score are two different things. When you submit your log, it doesn't automatically submit a claimed score, that is a separate activity. As you submit your logs manually, you are given the option to do both. I think I might do a video of screen shots when I submit mine just to show the difference between the two activities. Hi Dom, yes I did press the tab to claim the score, the same as I did when I put in the FMAC entry , and that worked OK. It maybe the same issue Tony had , I have sent an Email to G4CLA to ask him how to resolve it, I may have to re-enter it again or resend score? Elwyn

Elwyn. The subtle difference is that when you submit your claimed score, if it has gone in correctly then your score AND THE OTHER CLAIMED SCORES are displayed . If it hasn't gone in correctly then ONLY YOUR CLAIMED SCORE is displayed. In my case if I logged out and then went back in again if it was "the wrong 'un" then only your single line claimed score is displayed. 73 Tony, G4LDL On 8 Mar 2023 19:35, "Elwyn Carter via groups.io" <elwyn.carter@...> wrote:

Tony, see below the Email I got back From Pete G4CLA, after I asked him about the issue.
From: Pete G4CLA <g4cla@...>
Hi Elwyn,
I have resubmitted your log and submitted your claimed score which worked OK, The problem I found might cause this to fail occasionally, but it's not a quick fix, so I will look at it over the next few days. If you get the problem again, follow the link to edit your log, and before proceeding make sure the top frame contains your score ODX bonus points etc, if not and these fields are blank then refresh the page and they should appear. Then submit your log and your claimed score should be OK.

Thanks for highlighting and that they they have found there is an issue. Wish I read this sooner as missed out on my score (though only a little one as usual) being counted in the last 144MHz FMAC. I've submitted again yesterday, but at two days late I know it won't be counted sadly. I checked the submissions for this week's two 432MHz contests too and see they have not submitted, so have rectified them in time.
All I can say is that I have submitted in exactly the same way for all these contests since I started to take part in June last year and have never had an issue.100% sure that when I submitted my score the list of everyone's who had submitted so far was also shown, which as always was only a small list at the time I submitted it as I do so very soon after the FMAC finishes. Sorry my score didn't contribute this time, but it looks the rest of you have still done very well putting the club way ahead. I will make a conscious effort to check the submissions just a couple of days after each of the contests going forward and resubmit in time if needed. Neal |

Hi Neal, Let’s be quite clear about this. Forget “claimed scores” for a minute. If you have submitted your log and received an email back advising that your log has been received then that should be ok. You can actually check this by following the Logs Received link. Your entry should show there near the top if you are looking just after you have submitted it. Job done.
Now Claimed Scores is a separate facility within that system for you to submit a score for the interest of others and yourself to see how you got on. It has no relevance to the ACTUAL scoring because you do not have to submit a claimed score. However you cannot submit a claimed score without having entered your log first (I think).
The issue that I had was only with the claimed score and that was the area where it is acknowledged there has been an odd problem. As far as I am aware there has not been any issue with the main log submission facility when actually entering a log.
To summarise. You do not have to enter a Claimed Score for your log to count but you must have submitted it, received a confirmation email and you can check it in Logs Received.

What I might add though , when I put my score in after the contest, it would not go in. I tried several times and I looked into what I may have done wrong. Everything was perfect but still would not go in. Then I did the SSB contest afterwards, which
also would not go in, however, the next morning I tried again and everything worked as it should, Not any clue as to what the issue was? Sent from Jeff M0UHF

Geoff. That's the issue that I reported and it has been found to be a problem that occurs from time to time. 73 Tony, G4LDL On 17 Mar 2023 12:22, Jeff M0UHF <jeff.elliott45@...> wrote:

I must say I've never had a problem with log submission or claimed scores. Perhaps I've just been lucky ...
I don't submit a cover sheet, does that make a difference? Marc |
|
I've never had an issue, until this month. I have been doing so few contacts on these I have been just entering manually through the Log file generator page. Nothing has changed in the way I have gone about logging. I have checked through my emails though and the few this month do have (not submitted) in the mails I have received, unlike all the others from previous months. So my fault for not checking my mails.
Thank you Tony for the clarification. I understand. I will be just be more vigilant and check my mails, and check a couple of days after submitting also to ensure everything is in order. Neal |

Marc, the Cover Sheet is something that used to be used when several stations were contributing to the same club score. I think that is dealt with now by simply adding your club when you upload your log. I have an old cover sheet somewhere so I will try and dig it out just for interest. See exactly what it purported to do!

For information, I do exactly the same every single contest. I have it set up to perfection but a couple of times for no reason it just doesn’t work until I enter it the next day. The errors that come up is, failed entry log incorrect date for all QSO. It was
suggested that I was entering my results into an incorrect contest date and that would make sense. But I’m quite certain it was the correct contest as I did exactly the same the following day and it worked perfectly.
