HF radio, with band scope.
G6UAJ Paul Longstaff
Looking for some advise on a HF radio (new or old), for use with Tranverters.
It will be used portable in my van, so 12V only is OK, and size (within reason) is no issue. I will be using the 28MHz band at a few 100mW drive, (so bypassing the PA). Needs to have a decent Band Scope, but don't want to break the bank. Very unlikely to ever use the Radio standalone, on HF. Any recommendations? Paul G6UAJ |

Hi Paul,
FlexRadio 6400 Elecraft K3 Both expensive but, hey, you only live once as they say … I’m sure others will think of more options. Marc |

How about a flex 1500 ... see sk sale list and flexmanual etc and, if it works for youmake a sensible offer. Den On Wed, Sep 28, 2022, 7:28 PM Marc (M0KYB) <marc@...> wrote: Hi Paul, |

This is a tough one. The flex series require a computer. I know you don’t want to use a computer. The K3 is perfect as a microwave driver for many reasons but doesn’t have a panadapter unless you get a P3 or add one with a computer. You could get one of the 7300 or modern yeasu series but none of them let you disable the PA as far as I know. The k4 fits the bill but is very expensive and not obtainable. There is also the 705. Lots to think about. Happy to discuss my deeper thoughts sometime but not at club this week. James On Wed, 28 Sep 2022 at 19:37, Den (M0ACM) <denf.acm@...> wrote:

What about a used IC7600? Transvertor output has also TS590SG (does not have a panadapter). 73! Michal On Wed, 28 Sep 2022, 20:47 James (M1DST), <james@...> wrote:

...and of course there is the TS 2000X with 23cm out and transvertable up to 10GHz. ... but still no spectrum display! Den On Wed, Sep 28, 2022, 7:54 PM Michal Cerveny <ok1ghz@...> wrote:

Khune do an inexpensive add on for 7300 for transverter use. Output is only 0.3mw so you’d need to amplify it. On Wed, 28 Sep 2022 at 19:46, James Patterson <james@...> wrote:
