Subject: Lithium-Ion Batteries for UPS Applications

This month's Detroit Section meeting will be held online via Zoom, courtesy of SBE Chapter 91. The presentation will focus on lithium-ion batteries for UPS applications and their advantages over traditional VRLA batteries. We’ll discuss lithium battery solutions offered by Eaton, detailing cabinet designs, safety, intrinsic battery management for additional protection, and Eaton’s service/maintenance capabilities. In addition to the lithium discussion, comments on Eaton’s range of UPS solutions, as well as some other relevant product lines, will be included.

Kyle Jarrell began his career with Eaton after graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2019. He has electrical sales experience in datacenters and construction and currently supports Eaton’s Datacenter sales team throughout the Midwest. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Joel Williams has 34 years' experience in the Uninterruptible Power Supply Industry.  Joel’s experience in the UPS industry spans Service, Marketing, Management, and Application Engineering. Joel was trained as an Electronic Engineer through DeVry Institute of Technology and holds a BSBA from The University of Phoenix.
